It's a learning curve. I left my land that I lived on with a small RV, 26' no slide small camper. I bought a newer one 35' with super slide, and bed slide. And I left with a truck that the numbers fit, but the engine spun a barring. Stranded, and my best friend came and got me 250 miles south, hauled me back home and I could purchase another used truck. Bigger, 2500. So I left again. Had a starter repaired a coil, $500, and a week in a small but quiet, RV site. I left there, and went to a resavore for 3 days. Then I got my check, and back on the road. So expect the unexpected. 12 days to get from ND, to NM.

Preparing my house to sell, maintenance projects to get wrapped up, waiting on contractors to start & finish 😂 Am planning to stay local for the time being to get used to the trailer and close to family/friends that can help. Will be my 1st time doing this without my husband😢 Am so grateful for KZread and discovering a wonderful community of people who are willing to help a newbie like me! ❤

Great video guys!!! We have been FT going on 2 years and our experience preparing was similar, but more “rushed.” We had our house sold before we even put it on the market officially. Chris and Martha, Venturesome Couple were our neighbors for several weeks in Seal Beach, CA Funny story, I was gonna do my monthly running the genny under a load for a couple of hours, so I saw Chris outside and walked over to see if it was ok with him…I always check if I see neighbors out. He said he didn’t care and we started talking and then Martha came out and she jumped in the conversation. I kept saying to myself, I know these guys. Then It hit me, that they are the Venturesome Couple. We hung out several times and had a great time with them, such an awesome pair!!! And, their solar array just blows me away, as well as lot of other additions/mods they have done. Really enjoy the content, the straight forward honesty and transparency, and you keep FT lifestyle positive with caveats. 👍😃🍻

A great discussion on this very topic. Thank you as well for the web sites, I was literally going through those steps and grinding on an excel spreadsheet with limited data. Your video was perfect timing for me as well. Called insurance agents for quotes on truck, quad and trailer, got the “you need a physical address routine”, another surprise. Just logistics. Both budgets and weights, selling the home, major downsize to a trailer. What doesn’t sell would have to go to storage and your experience shed light on my conundrum. It ends up costing more to dump after paying for storage. Subscrbed!

If you are thinking about moving to Texas, Kemah is pretty nice. We used to live there at USA RV Resorts Marina Bay or Jackie’s Brickhouse RV Park. You can drive around everywhere on a golf cart and Jackie’s Brickhouse is next door. Nice spot to hangout if you like to bar and grill spots. If you would like to save money my wife and I moved to Green Caye RV Park. It is a gated community with everything you need. You pay $650 a month and your electricity is free at no extra charge. We have an enormous slot and could fit 4 cars is our spot with our ToyHauler

Kemah was nice. Last time I was there was probably 5 years ago & it had gotten way too overcrowded for me, & the traffic was horrendous. Not a bad price (I guess), considering ones up the road are charging extra for electricity. But then, I know someone whose sticks & bricks payments are $377, & mine was $215 (& it was my dream place).

Another word about storage units… most all of them either leak or flood, or both, & even if they don’t, if it’s not climate controlled, things will mold, & particleboard will collapse under its own weight. They also get broken into. I’ve yet to hear of any storage facilities that has reimbursed tenants.

I used to want to go full time but now I’m leaning towards part time. If I could be out on the road for a few months then come back home and reset for a few month, I think that would be great!

For example, we live in Maine and the summer and fall is absolutely stunning! If I could go down south to Florida or Arizona during the winter months, I think that would be perfect. Unfortunately I work remotely and could do that but my wife is an RN and doesn’t work remotely. So I can keep daydreaming for now.

It’s a different journey for everyone. I haven’t missed or regretted getting rid of a single item. The things I kept were more family treasures or memorabilia. By the time I do a house again, I’ll want different stuff anyways. lol ya can’t take stuff to the grave. Let it go if you can, if not, store what you have to keep. It’s totally fine either way. Do you and what you’re comfortable with. There are no rules.

Figuring out the healthcare thing is the scariest thing. What it’ll cost if you end up out of pocket and network of providers.

You know, it’s really hard to say. Depends on your personal situation. We wanted to have the funds to cover any major issue. Since we bought new on the Rv and truck we have warranty for most. However, we went with about 3 months expenses. Now, I wish we had more since I did lose my job but we were able to change the way we camp and make up for that change. It’s really all about your personal comfort zone and ability to be covered in case of anything major. Not much different than in a home really.

I've been living in apartments for 20 years. 59 yrs old. Single and no commitments. Now I'm considering a mobile home or RV. Would need a remote income until 65. Which idea would be best? Thank you for any wisdom. Blessings. Mr. T

Great info! QQQ 33:46 I never did understand this logic … How are you “Saving” money on Gas ⛽️ if you still end up Driving to that next location? (A to B) If it’s 500 miles away… and you still drive there two weeks, two months… You are still diving that same 500 miles. 🤔🤔🤔🤪🤷‍♂️ Then all I hear is, “Well you’re not spending it that fast. 🤦🏼‍♂️ YOU ARE STILL GOING TO SPEND IT! 🤪🤪🤪

Sure but if you’re budgeting a certain amount, I’ll spend it slower to stay within budget because I’m not living as fast. If you travel twice as fast you might spend 400 in a month compared to my $200 because I’m going slower and not moving around as fast. It’s about staying in budget. Plus you’ll cover twice as much miles. I may cover the same in 3 months as you cover in 1. In the end, do you but the math still works for budgeting:

I’m pretty sure he means frequency of moving not actual mph speed. If you stay for a month at each place, that’s 12 moves a year. If you move weekly it’s 52 moves a year. If you travel for example 500miles every week that’s 2000 miles a month. If you travel 500miles once a month it’s 500miles. You will be travelling more slowly across America (or wherever you are going) but at 1/4 the cost. Plus you save on site fees, wear and tear on your vehicle… etc

Just do your research and the math. While you can live in an Rv for less, it can add up. Depends on what you choose and how you camp. Good luck to you!

@@adamusred8308In your case, I’d recommend at least doing a couple of rental first to see which you’re most comfortable in. You might decide that you can do with less. Once you get one, make sure to inspect the roof every other week.

I’m assuming AVG is some sort of security thing you have? I haven’t had anyone else report this. Try opening it in an incognito tab on your browser. Or use a different browser entirely.
