    I'm very happy that I saw this and several other videos regarding to this filtration system that works very well. No noise and a very efficient way to drawn the water down to the sump, very nice plumbing that you did, thanks for the ideas.

    Good luck with the tank. In the future you may want to add a gate valve to that straight return so that you can balance the two out. That said, you should probably be using internal fans for flow, so the double return really isn't necessary. Cheers, Chris

    Be el the edges with a pvc reamer. Easier to dry fit if you have to. Tape the pipe and fittings to keep it clean from glue over flow.

    Hey my Myfirstfishtank, If I may say, your return lines. If you install that tee dead center between both90's, you'll have an equal flow from both lines. It's looking really nice.

    quite true indeed. Actually, what I should have probably done was just have a single return line for this tank. Oh well, lesson learned... again! Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Or, add a second return pump and have independent return lines. This would eliminate that single point of failure...

    Just curious as to why you didn't go the extra mile and drill the return lines? Would've looked a lot cleaner, saved head pressure with fewer 90 elbows, as well as made lid options much easier in the future should you ever decide you need them.

  • @MyFirstFishTank

    You know, you are not the first person to ask this question. I guess my most honest opinion is that I just did't think of it. I know that sounds weird, and I don't know why it never crossed my mind. I think I got a plan in my head and I just couldn't think outside of it at that point! It would have looked cleaner and definitely been better for head pressure. Really, I think I should have just installed a single return line for a tank of this size, and I should have tapered the 1" down to 1/2". Oh well. But on a good note, I do have some VCA random flow generators on their way so after I reduce the line to 1/2", those should really help! Thanks for watching and commenting!

    In regards to your return lines being tied together and being worried about not getting equal pressure, you can add a gate / ball valve on the line with the least resistance that would naturally have the highest flow. In doing so, you can restrict the flow on that one line thereby pushing more water thru that other return line to equal out the pressures on both lines. This will not interfere with your pumps performance since the one line will always have the ability to fully flow and use the max amount of output for your return pump. Other than that, good looking job!

  • @BulkReefSupply

    @BulkReefSupply

    2 жыл бұрын

    For ABS bulkheads, you'll usually see an ABS/PVC transition cement used instead of a general all-purpose PVC cement like you would on a PVC to PVC connection. That said, in low pressure applications (like most aquarium applications), you can usually get away using all-purpose PVC cement when connecting your PVC to ABS bulkheads 😉
