It’s so interesting to see how others clinics do different procedures. Everyone has their own technique of doing things and what works best for them
It is always embarrassing when you don't get the cephalic vein at one touch especially if the client is watching 😂 Good work, doc. I appreciate you

Dogs sedated, would be mean if it wasnt, that stuff hurts
You make it look so easy! The Vets usually place the catheters at the office I work at, so I haven't been able to try placing one yet. This video helped show me how to help assist in placing a catheter too though. There was no mess! That's crazy. You and your technician did a great job!
This person deserves a raise. She's great.
Just finished my first semester at my RVT program and landed my first job at a veterinary clinic. I asked for stuff to study up on while my job was on a 2 week winter break and placing catheters was one of my assignments since I'm still very new to this field. This video was so straightforward and gave me good insight. Thanks!

congrats, I bet you are just as efficient at many procedures, as this lady is.
Your videos are so useful for us, students, who don't get around to practice much. Thanks a lot ^_^ keep doing the great job you're doing.

Good boy/girl I watch these so I wouldn’t be as nervous. I’m studying to a vet tech myself
I’m training to be a vet technician and I’m so thankful for these videos they help me out when I forget and need to be refreshed and I watch them for fun and to learn new ways to make the office a better and happier place 😀😃😄☺️😊so thank you again love the videos
It is very apparent this lady was taught well and has done this many times.
Such a good patient! Hope buddy is doing well
Your content is very useful. We are trying to help more dogs and cats in Vietnam
If only all our patients were as perfect as this dog lol. I was shadowing at a clinic the morning of a Husky spay and that dog refused to go down. She was determined to eat everyone, even after she was pre-medicated she needed a muzzle and a cone way before the surgery even started, and the moment she woke up from surgery she still tried to eat us. Haha, gotta love dogs.
You got that catheter is so easy! I've only ever seen a nurse/tech put a catheter in that quickly a few times! Thanks for all your thorough steps! As a student, this really helps me out!
This is by far the BEST video for the proper way to place a catheter. It is surprising to me just how many really BAD videos there are showing really sloppy technique on the part of the person restraining as well as the tech inserting the catheter. Atdove.org really is the GOLD STANDARD for the correct way to practice safe, quality medicine. Thank you Megan and all of the team at Dove for setting the bar high and challenging us to continue to learn, gain confidence AND most importantly, gain recognition and respect for the education that we have and the job that we do as RVT/CVT professionals.
Nicely done. That boxer was such a good sport. I hope he got a few chicken treats. X

What a patient pup! Lovely job. The way you use the tape is so neat and efficient.
I am a new vet assistant and this was so helpful, thank you!!
Learning to do this now as an assistant at our clinic. We normally will use that fourth piece of tape to make the seatbelt for the catheter. We also never let go of it to ensure it stays in the vein while taping, so we tape with one hand but your method seems so much easier.
good thing the doggy is an amazing helper here. Cause We´ve all been there with patients that need a full team to get it done. I really love the method you just shared I´ll might use it
Poor baby, she was so calm as the nurse was getting her ready. Great job!

Tape is the hardest part of placing an IV catheter. I really like your method. Great instruction, as usual.
An amazing video. I has crazy nerves when it comes to needles but she made everything so comfortable. I hope she’s become a leader among vets. Very great video.
Inserting while teaching at the same time! Good job!
That dog looks so brave! I like the way the assistant keeps him quiet while they do this. My doctor keeps me quiet by letting me snuggle up with my baby doll that I have. I cannot have children so I have little cherish. She's been with me through thick and thin and some of you might think I'm crazy for having her, but it helps me be strong and brave in moments like this
This was so incredibly helpful! I’ll be starting as an emergency & critical care nurse in a few weeks and I’m trying to obtain any piece of helpful info possible!! Thank you!! 🙌🏼💜 She was such a good patient too!
What is your reasoning behind taping the t-set to the medial side of the leg? I was always taught to tape the t-set to the lateral side of the leg to give easier access if needed--especially in an emergency.
I love her videos simple easy to follow great refreshers
Nicely done👍It's easier on big well behaved dogs. It can be quite a work on those super small, nervous, twitchy dogs.
What a smile😊 doctor megan, thanks 🌹
Thoroughly impressed by the patient.
That pup is so good and calm😭❤
Your ideas is very well and precious ☺️ Iam from Nepal veterinary technician
The cephalic is actually on the side and the accesory is on the middle. Once the two combine and it extend from that meet, then it turns into cephalic.

It's a common mistake to call the cephalic vein an "accessory vein" as it runs medially. It's actually the accessory of the cephalic that runs straight! Look it up :)
You are amazing❤
