I’m from Northern England...where the flatcap originated from. A very long time ago it used to be the law that you had to wear one outside the home and you’d be fined if you were caught not wearing one. It was all about boosting the wool industry.

My Dad’s family was English and he loved his classic English sports cars and Harris Tweed flat caps. On his last birthday I bought him a new cap for riding in his final car project. He looked handsome to the very end. That cap is the thing I keep to remember him by❤️
Living in England, in the Yorkshire countryside, all of these are pretty much our native hats. Everyone outside Yorkshire calls us farmers if we're caught wearing one....pffft what do they know.

Just started wearing this style, I love it because no one else is wearing them around my neck of the woods. Thanks for the video
Added flatcaps a couple of years ago to my baseball style caps, Fedora coming next. Your hat can define your style, mood and outlook and is one of the most under rated pieces of gentlemen's attire for creating the overall look and feel of an outfit.

The Hard Eye is my favorite. Great video!
These hats in the US where recently at a peak of popularity during the 80s and 90s. Known mostly by the brand Kangol. I own three myself that I purchased 15 years ago. I am anxious to try out these different brands

Greatest hat shop on the planet! The store I visit often - King Street in Charleston, SC! Amazing product and exemplary customer care and service!
Options clear. Thanks.
My first flat cap (newsboy cap) I got was for my kilts. Another one was my grandfathers. Love that one.
Terrific hats & a dapper hairstyle. Think I'll change my own style around a bit. I've been inspired.
Great video, caps, models, photos, narration and even the music; Great job people!!
Interesting video. Nice to get the differences explained.
I have a black hard-eye (low profile ivy) and I absolutely love it
So many options!! Thank you!! Great Video!!
Great tutorial!!! What beautiful caps!! I love the one that drops down the flat warmers for cold weather protection. Handsome cap!!! I'm sorry I can't use that in the tropical area where I live. I just purchased the Kangol 507. Great cap!!
Thank you for the valuable information about the flathats.
I am a 52 year old American woman from Boston. I have been wearing "Scally" caps, as we call them, since I was about 7 or 8. I love them so much! My mother hates them on me because she thinks they are too masculine. Phttttt! I couldn't care less. About a year ago I happened upon a lovely scally made in Ireland and it's my absolute favorite. I don't get to wear it much as I now live in Florida and it's too hot here to wear a wool cap. I would love to acquire a lightweight, summer friendly cap I could wear here!
Awesome! Very helpful. Thank you man!
I live in lndia. I started losing my hair in early 20s. I used to worry a lot. I tried many things but finally l found a solution in flat caps. Now many years have gone by since l have been wearing these caps everyday. In winters l wear tweed caps & in summers l use cotton or corduroy ones.
Great selection. Great for us living in the Yorkshire dales.
My favourite flat cap is a Christies of London "RADNOR". I bought it in 1975 when visiting Edinburgh. It's falling apart now but I am loath to throw it out after all this time. I have other caps for occasions when I need to be better dressed!
1st and 2nd to last are my favorites
I’ve owned a Goorin Bros flat cap for 6 years. It’s seen many miles of cruising Anchorage Ak and Panama City Fl on my skateboard. I’ve worn it out fishing, in theaters and to my friends houses for board game nights. So much that one of their daughters is obsessed with it. Tonight I found the brim broken. The silver lining is that I’m actually in Las Vegas, which is the only city that I’ve been in that actually has a Goorin Bros shop.
Thanks man. Appreciate the help.
This reminds me of my grandfather so much.

+Snowfall Thecat The caps seem rather low, are they actually on his forehead, or do they stop wear hat meets hair and just cover the forehead?
In Italy all of these caps go by the name of "coppole" (singular "coppola"), from a Southern Italian word that literally means "head". It seems that this cap was first introduced to Italy by English people in the 19th or early 20th century but it soon became a staple of the typical Sicilian clothing style. Today it's not as common as it used to be, you usually see it sported by old people (not only in Sicily but in the whole country) but as of late flat caps are having a sort of revival here too. The Italian coppola usual comes in a plain flat pattern, sometimes featuring a snap brim, but some other patterns are slowly taking hold in the past few years.

+stan smith Good choice, flat caps are very traditional here and I personally think they're classy but still informal at the same time (differently from fedoras, for instance), so that you can wear one in different situations. Plus they come in a variety of patterns so you have plenty to choose from.

They look great on you, the question is if it will do the same for me
I just tried on a cheap ivy hat at Wal-Mart and I really liked how it looked on me! I'd wanted to get a regular modern cap but it just didn't look right on me and it didn't feel like I was trying to be myself. but when I put on that ivy cap at Wal-Mart I was stunned at how good I felt about how I looked! I feel like I can respect myself more and I definitely want to start clothes shopping a little bit more! my wardrobe is way past it's expiration date lol... thanks for the vid! helped tons!

Good presentation of a great cap that is tied historically with my Northern England roots, but finding a decent stockist in in my temporary abode - Vienna, Austria? ...That will be challenging!
Getting one tomorrow. So far I’m interested in the Winnie and Three Panel Ivy
Ear-warmer flaps.... Love it!
Great video, well done.
OUTSTANDING !
SAN DIEGO, WOW!! Thanks for the video

I have a Soft Cloth, Grey Winnie, and I like to wear it year round, really anytime I leave the House I have it on. I Really Love It.
I love the newsboy cap . I have 2 the newsboy my favorite and the flat ivy ...
I live in France, and it is hard to find a good hand made producer. But the few ones here excels on the taylormade fabrication. In Paris you can find the masters of couture on these products.
Great info! Thanks!
today I have my 30years b-day. After reflecting I will go with the Tony diamonti, it was such a treat to watch
Very cool...thanks!
I love flatcaps. I am seeing a possibility for a new start here.
I appreciate this. Thank you.
VERY well made video! Love it! I learned a lot. I love hats and own several but I'm still learning. Seems there's always more to learn. Thanks again for the great video.
Good looking caps!
I have, a not so low profile Ivy'like cap, for a more summer setting. But in the cold climate, where I live, I will need the 'Hard Eye -Low profile Iv'y. Alway great to be inspirited👌🏼 A big Thanks from Denmark 😊🇩🇰👍🏼
The Winnie style is the only hat I’ve ever confidently worn. With the exception of beanies during the cold season, it’s the only type of cap for me.
Bought me a green flat cap at Blarney Castle. I didn't rightly know what style mine was until I found this video(it's the winnie). I've been needing more colors.
Bravo ! Maestro !
Awesomeness. ❤️ ... I’m in Australia, but I’m about to hurry over to your website with purchasing intentions! 🙂 Michelle
Love em all
EXELLENT!! ALL NICE AND BEAUTYFULL THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION!
This is my new favorite video.
Love it so much.
The low profile with the flaps is the best
Great cap!
Been wearing flat caps since 1974; very comfortable, stylish, and Thank You for a very informative video!
Thank you. Point of interest. The very light colors show the details better on camera.
I did not know that you existed in SD. I have been getting mine from weavers of Ireland. I should drop by someday.

Great video, thanks for that. One comment though, I've been looking like crazy what type goes with each shape of head.
Eight-quarter cap, your "Gatsby", my favorite. Also the most notable trademark of 1920's juvenile delinquents.

I agree with Totally Toons, although I'm Derbyshire. Not so much how to pick, but more of a which is which? I was looking forward to information like, 'this suits this shape of face etc... but enjoyed the video, great presentation as well as cool looking caps.
You dudes make some smart hats I love baker boy and newsboy hats
The best thing about these caps is that they fit in your pocket!

I had no idea that there were so many different styles. I’ll have to look at mine to see what I’ve been wearing all these years!
number 1&2 i like that❤️
I think Dabrye is wearing one of those, cheers :)
I think my ivy cap is a hard eye. It has for 4 panels at the back and right angles at the side from where the line curves around the stitched brim and joins up with the back panels. It's 50% wool and 50% polyester and black in color. Perfect size and shape for me, fell in love with it haha
wow cool flatcaps you make thx for share it
I wear the Nico Zanetti. Not a bad cap but it doesn't help to keep warm in the winter months.
I have worn a Brixton "brood cap" for years now, absolutely love it, I am more interested in where I could find clothes to pair with it. I am a plus size guy. Also, how do you keep your hair nice and in place, while putting these caps on and taking them off??
I had no idea there were so many differences available beyond material. Very informative video. By far my favourite kind of hat. They are perfect for pretty much any situation bar rain haha. Looks like the one I have would be a Low Profile Ivy.
vry informative and thanks
Great video, the only thing I have to giggle at is imagining needing the ear flaps in San Diego 😅 I'm a transplant from the Seattle area and I've yet to feel cold enough to even wear much more than s sweatshirt! Loved all of the info though. Maybe someday when I get back home I'll get an earflap one
Flat caps very useful especially here in the UK with the weather we get. Been wearing them for years.Watch the TV programme Peaky Blinders for some great head gear.
