Designing a room or apartment from scratch can often be a challenge due to a number of things involved, from color and design style, all the way to furniture size and placement.
Many times, we're often left with a place that feels disjointed, lacking personality, or one that feels like it's straight out of IKEA's showroom.
In this video, I'm going to share my design process, from gathering concept and inspiration, all the way to styling a space.

There are many KZreadrs, that I enjoy and that utilize great cinematography and many that convey minimalist principles in compelling fashion. But since I stumbled upon your videos I feel like I found the quintessential channel for minimalist inspiration and style. You also nailed my exact taste when it comes to interior design. I love it, keep it up man

Hi Reynard, I just stumbled upon your latest video today (thanks to KZread algorithm) and after watching a few more of your older videos, I have decided that when I have my own apartment in a few years time, and if you are still designing by then, I am going to ask you to design my home. Your style and philosophy of design is exactly what I wanted, but could not visualise before seeing your videos. Awesome content. great quality videos. Please produce more episodes for the house to home series!

I love the tips on how to organize all my ideas into 1 space. The sites you're using makes so much sense. Thank you for the suggestions. Please I'd like to ask when choosing wood pieces from different places how to make them work in 1 space? Especially if buying 2nd hand. Do they all need to be the same color? Like all walnut though different pieces?

I actually recommended floorplanner because it's not technical at all unlike industry standard software such as SketchUp or AutoCAD. Their help page alone should be enough as it's mostly drag and drop, with a few buttons and features here and there. I'll put this in my list if there is enough request for future videos. 😊

Thank you so much for sharing this, I really appreciate how you broke everything down into steps. It feels a lot more manageable and I can see how I can use Milanote now to make it easy too! Would you say that someone who has no design experience would be able to "design" their own office/multi-purpose room appropriately without outside help? And do you think making slow changes if under a tight budget is alright? I'm struggling with my spare room that I use as my office space right now. Thank you!

Glad you found it helpful! Definitely go for it, there’s so many inspirations and stores catering to all different styles, just takes some time and effort if doing it alone (and don’t be afraid of making mistakes!). Would highly recommend spreading purchase over time (or even hunt for some second hand goods), that’s what I personally did before.

Hello, Thank you for your informative and helpful video. Can you please advise me on how I can be selective with the furniture choices and not get too overwhelmed ? When it comes to furniture selection, I find it hard to narrow down where to start looking. Can you explain how we go about the furniture selection from the first step? How do we choose them? Where do we choose them from, as there are many sites and shops available? Thank you

hello, i have recently acquired my first apartment and i'm trying really hard to decorate it but choice fatigue gets me too quickly, my living room has black flooring and i am not sure how to go about it, i also do not know if I should use the big spare room for my bedroom or for my office at the price of having the other be the small room, any tips?

Re the big spare room: I think it's a personal choice, so it's better to assess internally what you'll be using more, and how you plan to use it. Remove the "shoulds" and just consider from the pov of how your day to day is.
