Le Creuset is hands down spectaculars! I’d love to add that big skillet to my collection but gotta save for those and select wisely for sure. They are heavy too so consider storage. I think they will last long enough to be handed down to my children same as my grandmothers regular cast was handed down to me.

@@jonathanmark4306 The surface isn't really non stick, but if you use an adequate amount of oil/fat and don't heat it up way too much then things aren't going to stick. I bought one a few days ago and made steak, it stuck a tiny little bit, but it was about as easy to clean as my true non stick pan. Although it's not necessary to season this pan I gave it a couple of coats of flaxseed oil on the inside surface today and cooked some pork chops, nothing stuck to it. The enamel is ceramic, meaning it's extremely durable compared to any PTFE coated pan and will hold up for a very very long time.

The difference in the shape of the top two skillets is pretty significant. The Dansk one looks more like a fryer skillet, and the LC skillet is very shallow compared to the Dansk. Also, what is the top oven temperature for the LC vs the Dansk? Thanks for your helpful reviews. I’m a returning member and love the show and all the new hosts and cooks!

Grew up in the '50s with my Mom making cornbread in a regular cast iron skillet, frying eggs and bacon in it, etc. - So I'll continue to stick with the regular cast iron. Just wish I had Mom's old skillet. I'm in my 70s and I'd love to have it to pass down to my kids and grandkids. Nothing like great food with fond memories.

If you look around, especially around Christmas time, you can get good sales on Le Creuset. Can't ever go wrong with a Le Creuset. One thing I thought was odd for ATK not to mention was that the less expensive choice has straight walls where as the Le Creuset has curved walls. For a lot of cooking, I'd prefer to gently slide my food out of the skillet rather than have to scoop it all up. You can easily do that with the Le Creuset but not the Dansk Mario Batali skillet.

........I don't mean to sound like traditional cast iron is for everyone.......but......all of the little "extra" things you have to watch out for with enameled cast iron is not worth it to me. My 25 dollar Lodge cast iron...once a proper season was established, is NOT hard to take care of. It is easier to take care of than my All Clad. With a properly seasoned cast iron, I can literally wipe out most of the gunk with a nylon brush under running water. The stuck bits require 20 or 30 seconds extra with a thumbnail or the edge of the brush. Then you just dry it and wipe on a thin coat of oil. It is seriously easy when you consider that a cast iron can basically do ANYTHING in the kitchen (except simmer acidic things).

Where have you been? This isn't a "new format," this is a clip from 'Cook's Country, Season 10, Episode 10: Cast Iron Comforts,' which aired on October 28th, 2017.

This is unbearable. Don't talk about the stress-testing, show me. Your charisma sure as hell isn't making up for it. Ever since Lisa got taken off of equipment reviews, you have nothing to offer. Unsub

Lisa has never been "taken off equipment reviews." She makes some of the newer KZread-direct ones, and these clips from old episodes of Cook's Country and America's Test Kitchen are posted to fill in the gaps.

Lisa's fanatical followers - whose very existence is puzzling to me - are apparently incapable of figuring out how this stuff works. It's as if they never read any comments or pay attention to anything to do with the ATK or Cook's Country shows, with the sole exception of Lisa's online reviews, which they always fawn over like Madonna fans after a new album drops. Strange.
