    I’ve never cared much for the graffiti culture. But I just watched this and started to understand why so many people consider it art. There’s ALOT of thought and process that goes into this. I’m changing my mindset about the dedication it takes to actually be good at this. It’s not just splashing spray paint on a wall.

    Certainly not wrong, lots of stuff that goes out there can be quick and just to get your name out. But there is also tons that goes much deeper and that's my favorite by far

    it's the lowest culture of 'art'. There's a reason it's a crime to destroy other people's property you don't own. Maybe you would love your house to be 'bombed'.

    My best advice would be for anyone who feels like they can’t wrap their head around it, look up the people who do it completely legit at least quick. There’s channels that record themselves doing it illegally (I think art is still good but people obviously will disagree between right and wrong) but the channels/artists that respect others are the easiest to digest and appreciate the art form in my opinion, unless you don’t judge people for maybe breaking the law if the ends justify the means. Some beautiful things have been done without permission, sucks to see it covered sometimes

    I write “BEOR” currently. I used to write “DAOS” but got arrested on that name and didn’t like how blocky the letters were. After I got arrested I was thinking about how I could continue graffiti or I could not continue. To BE OR not to be, that is the question. I felt like that could be applied to basically anything, not just to graffiti. So I started writing “BEOR” cause that meant something cool to me. Every once in a while, I add “NOT” so it reads “BEOR NOT” and sometimes I just say fuck it and put up a “WHERE” throw up cause I like that it isn’t connected to BEOR so it’s not obvious it is me and people who see it later on don’t know where it came from. I like that when I do graffiti, even if the viewer doesn’t know it, I’m asking a question and hopefully making them think. I know the letter combos aren’t the craziest in the world, but I like it. Edit: spelling errors

  • @definitelynotdavid

    @definitelynotdavid

    11 ай бұрын

    @auxin903 tbh it wasn't that bad. They didn't get violent or anything. There was nothing I could really do, because they drove past me as I was tagging and flashed their lights. I was mad because they took all my streakers and mops (I had 3 brand new streakers and 2 brand new mops I just bought that day) After they took my shit and everything, I got my scans and mug shot at the local police station then they took me to the county prison after cause they don't hold overnight in the police station. I was there for 18 hours, in a cell with a bunch of people with DUIs. It was honestly pretty lit cause they were all drunk and vibing with each other. Also, preface, I had just gotten "arrested" a week before for the same thing, but I got a ticket the first time. In all, the interaction with the cops wasn't that bad, they just thought I was an idiot. What I will say, is in the event you do get a ticket/arrested, GET A PUBLIC DEFENDER for your court date. It's free and court appointed, but tbh it actually helps your case. My first court date I opted out of a PD and they hit me with a license suspension, informal probation, a restraining order on the spot I was tagging, fines, community service. Basically a bunch of shit. When I went for the second court date, I got a PD and she was telling me all I really should've gotten was the fines and MAAAAAAYBE community service. Basically because I opted out, I got fucked over. All in all it was a good learning experience and the community service has actually been one of the most pivotal experiences in my life. Met some really cool people and learned a lot about myself simply through maintaining a cemetery for 10 days. Would I go back and change anything?? Hell no!!! I mean I guess aside from what I'm painting 😂😂

    8 ай бұрын

    @@abdulnasirbushra6049 I don't think it's too obvious to use your initials or incorporate them into your tag. I think a lot of the name falls on flow, so maybe try playing around with both names and see how you like the letters together. I'm personally more of a 4-letter guy myself, so if it were me I'd probably be more partial to NKAY, and I think you could do some cool stuff with that letter combo. Just get loose, and have fun with it!! I'm constantly sketching my pieces and making little shifts to the style each time, and I find it's a lot easier to map it out on a wall when I do finally go out to paint. Hope this was helpful :)

    Never had a real interest in this stuff but always been amazed at some of the graffiti I see on trains and such. Its impressive how something so seemingly simple actually has a lot of creativity and thought put into it. Theres a whole stretch of wall in a nearby city that is a public mural and would love to add something to it. Kind of tempted to go with Haze as a tag if I ever did, its my nickname (and fits perfectly given that people either see me when I'm high or dissociated mostly) but its too similar to my name so anonymity might fly out of the window.

    I was quite into it as a teen back in the 90' . I ended up quitting cause with all the love and effort i put into it, I often ended with a result that felt off aesthetically. There also was no internet and many other interesting sources you have nowadays to find some kind of explanation as to why i encountered those problems. As i mostly drew for myself just on paper i wasn't really focused on making a personal grafitti name, but just chose words or slogans i found interesting and tried to put them togheter and make it work. It somehow often ended up of me being either stuck or frustrated. I do remember that there were letters like the R or K that i absolutely loved drawing and playing with cause the possibilities seemed endless and letters i totally despised. As i'm willing to give it another go after 20 years, your video gave me some new inspiration and i now understand that the letters i despised in the past were the non square ones and the empty spaces around them the cause of it not bing aesthetically pleasing. Thanks for that!

    I'm a few months into writing and have a few names I've been messing with, BOLD and VIKING which was abandoned for looking too toy for me. But the ones I mess with most are DRiP (which I feel has to be taken but it's fun) and different ways of doing "&THEN?" more or less punctuation, changing ampersand style or spelling it ANDEN, NDN. I'm also trying other words and practicing alphabets in case something else comes to mind

    This was needed, and was very educational on a side of writing ✍ being more Than just writing!! And getting up. Need more of these videos 📹 doing well 👏 sir. What do you think about commission pieces( legal) vs non legal?? Good, bad or evolving one's style or technique? Cleaner letters ✉, you know taking one's time so your work doesn't look rushed. I also encourage the alphabet. Pick a word or a name and just sketch it up to see 👀 how it looks. Be versatile. As a old skool ✍ you can do your name, but can you try doing other names?? Your moms name?, girl's name, try doing your full name, work on that lettering, expanding the culture. Pushing it. Very enjoyable content 👌 sir. Look forward to your next. Tagg 216. Oh yeah, ⌚ out for trouble bubbles when out there. Peace.

    Hey nice video, im painting 'Akra!' wich is a french carribbean snack (look for acra de morue). I love the K R combo, but the fact that Akra begin and end with the same letter make the name really hard to master. Picking a name with two time the same letter might not be a good idea when you begin. Also i have a question, in France it is very common to add letter and substitute other, for exemple "Akra" can be "Acra", "Aqra", "Ackra" or even "Hackra" its a thing i love cause it can totally change the way you write of course but also the meaning of the name "Hackra" can be translate to "Will hack". Do you guys practice this too ?

    Nice video. 👍 The story to my name EATNO is: First of I just wrote EAT, but like you sad, it could be readen as a crews name So I put "911" behind, cause I thought it would be cool, just like "Hey,this dude eats cops" or so. 😂 After a while, and cause I was tired of the numbers, it changed to EATNO. Writing it since 2008, made a longer pause but am doing in stickers and such for all the time since.
