    You are an absolute saint. My mic is damn near ten years old, and the USB wouldn't stay in place so it'd constantly cut out during my podcast. All I had to do was bend it back into shape with some pliers, just like you said, and it sounds better than it did before. Not sure how that works, but good god I love you so much. Thank you for taking the time to post this. I am eternally grateful for your efforts. May every moment of your life be blessed.

    Mine is just over a year old and I have the same issue - it was barely used but I noticed on ZOOM calls recently that it's loosing connectivity and a web cam microphone gets activated if I accidentally touch or move the Blue Yeti. Will check with the pliers first as I don't have soldering iron now. Thanks!

    Currently I have a problem with the blue yeti, it sounds incredibly low, I had to increase the gain from 20% to more than 60% on the back of the mic for it to be usable. I don't know if it's a usb cable issue or what.

    Where was this video 4 months ago when I was troubleshooting my own yeti it never showed up in my searches. But I'm still having the problem now so I'm going to try some of these fixes. I'm 90% sure I don't have a cracked solder I looked. However, that USB tab in the middle of the female port could be my magic bullet I was near the point of saying screw it and just soldering a cable direct to where the port used to be. I still might do that if my soldering skills get any better. But at this point it looks like I'm not going to have to do any direct soldering as a measure of desperation

    I truly appreciate this video, I am a podcaster and growing quite fast on KZread. This video helped me fix my microphone in just thirty minutes. All I had to do was use a plier to tighten the usb port end where the cable attaches and the microphone is back to normal! ZAPO ! Guys it is a great quality microphone for the price. As I continue to grow I will probably update it. Until then though. Keep on pushing! Love all you guys! Thank you so much Vestigial Voice, CLEAR, TO THE POINT! AND AMAZING! PEACE OUT! Also, I used a an old white t-shirt to pull the buttons off. I did get a little mark on my volume button on the side which isn't noticeable. But ! every other button was fine. I did have to grab the mute button with my teeth due to its tiny nature. Other than that, It was as smooth as silk!

    I believe with most users' setups, allowing the USB connector to track more closely to the microphone's base will limit the torsion on the USB port.

    My USB port was also completely just off of the board. However when I opened the case this little grey piece fell out of the port area. It looks like a plate of some port, its about the size of the port, and it doesn't seem to have any form of connector. Don't know what it is if I am being honest and I don't know how to fix that part. If you have an email I would love to send you the picture of the part. Your tutorials are amazing though! • @VestigialVoice

    @VestigialVoice

    10 ай бұрын

    Well, Logitech recently (2018) purchased the Blue Microphone company so we can expect a new model in the not-so-distant future. That being said, typically when these premium (I use the term somewhat loosely) brands are bought out by big technology companies, design modifications are motivated by cost-containment rather than functionality. We can certainly hope though 🍀

  • @VestigialVoice

    @VestigialVoice

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for the comment, nolan. I don't completely understand your issue. Does your software pick up the buzzing? Or is it just coming through your headset? Is the noise still present if you use a different USB cable? Here are a couple of my top guesses: Interference, improperly grounded line, failing capacitor, crack solder joint. Happy hunting, my friend 🍀

    Hi Jordan, First of all, identify if a cracked solder joint is YOUR problem. If it is, buy a soldering iron. The melting point of solder is around 250'C. This would be the most effective and precise way to reflow the joint. Satisfactory soldering irons are available on amazon for less than $20 USD. Good luck, bud 🍀

BTW, the exact issue was - the guts of the female part of the connector in the mic itself had snapped out and were in the male end of the cable - maybe the QC guy in the factory was having a bad day and effed it up?

    Damn...-.- ='{... Fan somebody's help me .... I bought This short time ago who maybe COUPLE -4 months and used it . Because i wanted good 👍 microphone USB Which has the pattern like cardioid etc pattern and condenser like! radio broadcast etc quality and use for my not old QND GOOD LAPTOP powerfully qs games some but mainly recording quality audio qnd Not Like almost majority 2hidh i understand wnd never ever criticizes aka they Bought very Good for price And super nice stand came with this if you have desk or in floor lvl and sturdy and the pattern cardio and the front back thing and stereo sometimes , with super easy just put it in USB plug and play for my Windows 10 atleast.... and the program is nice to digitally manipulate your voice and use digitally,noise gate compressor aka limiter same gategory then like pop,filter which is like wind protector or blowing... but digitally it's Not really possible well.. . that's why i put ,t cheap shure 79€ basic mic s bought 18y ago the sponge which i bought almost every mic 🎤 🎙️ my exept the flat ShureSM57 which i have use when recording others if want differences but,90% on My Guitar AMPLIFIERS where i have connected whatever many different pedals physically hardware over 24years when the internal AMP With EXPENSIVE GOOD HEAD like marshall and orange 🧡..etc head wont cut it or digital multi effects .., not even 3, pedals overdrive and DISTORTION AND others are different from not replacing but you know?... making guitar recordings people which still even when its not,1990s and even there's so many program's and things and People Who are super fast and etc Young 28-39y People my peoples etc still don't Want that but on my which is way harder and longer impossible many times no matter how good player or scale mastered i haven't ever because i speak for,myself wnd my life IT IS HELPING MANY PEOPLE PLAYERS BUT they are millions of Those just need practice qne i appreciate them qnd ,wny times when busy trying to rind someone good bur Still they dont want those and wait for me to make guitar bass and synthesizer etc mixing which wee my parts and want my things to have melody and real hardware. Any 2qy the pop filter not anything like 41€ basic is now loose the pop filter because i could stretch it with just to fit it fit my blue yeti... But the main reason i know My female friends and men too Thry have blue YETI and before they hwd snow ball but Logitech blue YETI MIC USB is best for me ,not nano Not pro because I don't want or need ANYWAY they have good usb audio or okay headsets audio etc... '' AND i don't have anyone installed the setups green screen qnd everything like , many who i Know the setup is made by their boyfriend/fiancee.., but I'm audio engineer who DECADES of doing sound systems qnd recording, mamy mics and objects Which needs phantom power....so its only was 159.9€ And snowball etc headset wont want that, much issue and no quality condenser good quality for usb! For many things qnd fast or demos etc. But l have others other than garbage internal laptop microphone... which has problems like my laptop digital 3.5,mm jack. So i have Ofcourse cheap like Shure c606 with on and off switch which i never like on my better microphones except blue YETI the red light mute button I loved! AND headset mics go either broke or annoying malfunctions Like the coed ln qnd off qnd lvl but it sows many times that id you but it dill on the sound which hearing Will change worse and nit pure 50 50 stereo... So i have XLR, microphones and radio broadcast which needs phantom power . And when i can i want to buy the shure SM7B xlr OFCOURSE i have heard and seeing Those microphones on many people who have Afford to have them but i always wondered if they have money ln like 599€ microphone why the heck they have so bad Preamps'? Because something's is Very off about the Quality...? Other person lile Joe Rogan have perfect quality. Then i understand right Away.'.im not having expert on that microphone even though i have wanted ro buy it next xlr for setup when needed etc Like 8 years ago. When i first heard it how good it was don't know what The bass roll meana? Is it better to leave off or on? Anyways it wasn't preamp Etc it was because i didn't know They, habe Make same model etc But USB.. Good 👍 for the people but i want,t blue YETI MIC USB to working! But right OUT OF THE BOX IT WAS SO loose the USB Mini plug... and it when adjusting WENT on off on off on The light 🚨 And my LAPTOP saying YETI sns internal yeti internal etc... And i tried different cord shorter maybe 80cm and it was Little plt bette but Still it sis that Not so super easy but still same... Which was such an BUMMER 😞😞😞😞😕😕😕😞.... AND Now couple weeks ago it turned Red like should be but again went off easily than 4weeks ago and stopped 100% no light Nothing and my cheap and good new cable which i tried it was maybe Only 19.9€, didn't do ANYTHING, different USB ports... .. Nothing and i tried my old desktop. 'good but slow because it's 2009 desktop but no light 🚨 no Power...:'(... So what Please help me! What Should i do!! A) B) OR C) -A SWAP it to,new free better be i habe t contacted yet..... -B SEND it like on A BUT say that they need to Not just swap it because its like problem manufacturing... So i want it to get it working and but it tight and Good! Like on here Or C) SO IT LIKE here? Even if i have warranty and I don't want, money Back i want this Blue YETI except if they would send me the pro Because this time fd me up! And clearly it's manufacturing fault! Anyway thanks For this video! , Do I need soldiering iron Only? Mot that thin oe thwt Silver cord melting thing? PEACE 🕊️ and Great 👍 video, man =-} ! Scary to tey But maybe i have to... Anyway Before i start i decide soon nut if someone could say what i should do FAST,IT WOULD BE VERY NICE AND APPRECIATE THAT! I habe the dark ocean Blue 💙🔵 etc color. Anyway! bye Peace!

    If that's all you did wrong, it's totally 100% fixable, albeeni. My guess is that you were not maintaining pressure between the connector and the board while soldering, which led to a poor(er) connection. To verify, check continuity with your multimeter. To fix, simply reflow the solder on that joint and she'll be (at least) as good as it was prior to your first attempt. 👍
