    I've downloading an app on my cell phone that allows me to make notes. I create a file for each vehicle. I put the VIN#, brand and weight of oil, brand and # of oil filter, year, make, model, engine size, air filter brand and # etc. I keep at least 2 oil changes and an air filter just in case. Great video!

    Great video! However the owners manual says to always use conventional and to never ever use synthetic on these engines. Confirmed with Hyundai themselves

  • @randomdude19

    @randomdude19

    Probably because conventional means you come into the shop more often for oil changes, which means means you visit then mor often: more $ for them. Full synthetic can last 7,500-10,000 miles. I’ve been using it for probably around 9 years now.

    The owners manual on the very back bottom cover gives viscosity options and 5w-20, 5w-30 and 10w-30 are on my 2010 back cover. Now mine is a elantra touring wagon. Im not sure if this is different from the sedans of the 2010 models.

    Midpoint of the frame below and behind the front fender. You never want to jack on a piece that'll get smashed in or break easily

    I have never used a filter wrench to tight the oil filter, just hand tight and have been perfect every time. if you do, then you will need to use the wrench again to lose it.

    iris baez, I like doing my own oil changes. But as I have arthritis in my hands, I can’t trust myself to do hand tightened so I’ll use a tool to put the filter on…once the oil filter makes contact with the engine block, I use the tool to tighten 3/4 turn to 1 full turn, which is industry specs. And yeah, I have to use the tool to take the oil filter off next time, but I know it’s not Hulk-cranked on there like the shops do.

    I tried it today for my elantra 2010. It was so hard. ofcourse I cant lifet the car up so I didnot have enough room, could not undo the bolt on the engine oil pan. took 30 minutes to remove the filter and more to put the new filter on. Had to use a suction pump to remove old oil from the oil checking pipe. only could get 1.5 liter out from that, may be few humdred mls from unscrewing the filter. Dont try it on your Elantra if you cant lift it up properly and safely. I just wanted to feel good after changing it myself, not sure If I want to do it again myself.
