Thank you for showing the markings so well. ❤ I am finally able to make a sleeve for my daughter's dress that we are usung as a pattern for another, but need a long sleeve for instead of a ruffle as a sleeve.😊.I watched another tutorial, but it didnt mention how to the sleeve for the existing bodice, and they didn't show how to write the lines. I appreciate the visual explanation that you did! ❤
I am confused about the 10 inch bicep and 14 inch sleeve, but am so glad uou explained how to find cap height. No one has explained that in the dozens of sleeve videos ive watched.

Tracing the bodice on the sleeve pattern is genius, I didn't think about that before! I struggled with unfitting sleeve cap, made it complicated to sew on the bodice and it made the sleeve look ugly from the inside, will try this technique next time! Tysm ❤❤❤

Yay! I'm so glad you found this tip helpful. Tracing the bodice on the sleeve pattern really does make a difference. Keep up the great work and happy sewing!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!! I copied a dress bodice I already had that was sleeveless and wanted to add sleeves to the pattern. I'd never done sleeve drafting before and was a bit intimidated that I wouldn't be able to get it to work. I tried 4 times to draft a sleeve from a few other websites/blogs, but something just didn't seem *quite right* about them, and it turned out they were missing the sleeve cap measurements! I followed your instructions, and while I'll need to adjust the sleeve cap height (which I found your other video on how to do just that!), I was able to draft a sleeve that looks exactly how I wanted to! 🎉👗

This is super exciting!!! Woohoo 🥳 It feels so good to make your own clothes :)
Great tutorial! I was wondering where you used the bicep measurement in the pattern?
Great video. Can you talk about symmetrical vs asymmetrical sleeve caps (shape)? If I followed correctly we have two different opening lengths on the front and back of the garment but the sleeve draft splits the added numbers evenly. Help in understanding this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, Yes. I can make a video about it. Thank you for watching.
You’re awesome, Allow me to describe my perfect dress pattern that I hope to create with your help. Ok imagine a full circle skirt that’s slightly below the knee, connected to a bodice that is form fitting with a crew neck (both front and back) and elbow length sleeves that are form fitting as well. Oh and a back invisible zipper that goes from the top to hip without creating a full seam down the back of the skirt. Let’s do this!

Sounds great! Did you make it yet?
Thanks for the video! How can we adjust the curve if the gap between front/back bodice measurements is wider than 2 inches?

What’s your question ?
@Joandomcouture
Жыл бұрын
Guess she wants to know how you use the bicep measurement of 10". in making the sleeve pattern because from your video your bicep measurement turn out to be 14 inches
I love your video's you make it so much easier. Question, you first labelled C as sleeve cap then referred to it as bicep. Does it really matter? I do think they were different measurements though no?
@SewAnastasia
Жыл бұрын
The bicep line is the bottom of the sleeve cap. Hope that helps. I ramble & talk a lot sometimes lol 😂. The worst part of design & sewing is that everything has like 4 different names but they are the same thing. I will have to watch the vid again to fully answer your question though. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this, it was very helpful. I did mess it up when you gave the formula for the arm scye (not sure I spelled that correctly) as when you said to add a quarter I thought you meant a quarter of the measurement, not a quarter inch! Ended up with a massive sleeve with way too much to ease in. Went back and did the math for your measurements and realized my mistake. Second try ended up much better.
@SewAnastasia

Oh good. I am glad you figured it out. Happy drafting.
I am going to redraft a sleeve from an existing pattern with this. The instructions are very clear, thank you. I have one question. It seems like most of the ease is in the front sleeve cap. Is there a way to move some of the ease to the back sleeve cap?
@SewAnastasia
8 ай бұрын
Yes there is. You can re balance it however you like at the top. Thats a whole new video though. I will add it to my list.
thank you for the video, it was very helpful. Did we end up using the bicep measurement that we took at the start? or just make the bicep line from our magic number derived from the armcye? ❤
@SewAnastasia
8 ай бұрын
I think we just used the armhole measurement. You can always go back and make just the bicep bigger if you need that. I have a video on it actually. Happy drafting :)
Thank you so much for this video. I really learnt a lot. Just wondering what happened to the original bicep measurement, where does it come in?

Hi how do we add ease to this? I want a basic sleeve but will it not be too tight if I just use my measurements. I’m plus size so hate having things tight on my arms.
@SewAnastasia
Жыл бұрын
This sleeve actually turns out fairly loose. You can always add more room to it through the slash and spread technique though. So this way you are keeping the arm hole measurement the same but making it bigger through the arm. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching.

4:08 by now because of all the blubber, you scared away the beginners. Instead of explaining.how to get the measurement of a back armhole and explain why the front is different, you are blubbering about how SCARY complicated the book description is, meaning that's where you scare the beginners into.a frenzy. Why do these videos if you want to rather address a mirage of unrelated info then maybe the title should reflect "not beginner friendly"! Again just TMI on unrelated things, vs. too little info on why the back armhole has different measure than the front.
