The “carriage” is what attaches to the “mast” and the pallet should be against the “lower backrest” (aka, the “LBR”). As a guy that actually installs those parts on Hyster trucks for a living, I give your training a solid A+ and appreciate you providing the information to those that need and/or want it. You’re actually helping folks, so keep it up! 💯

Just found out what all I needed to do to pass my test in 2 days. This video just made me more confident in my knowledge. I've never tested for this, always hopped on, moved a load, then hop off. Now I see how important it is to know all the stuff you covered. This a valid ass video, thank you

I'm experienced with a forklift but was never certified until today. And it was really simple 15 minutes not including my the written part which I did in early January. In a room roughly 20 ft x 20 ft, with a steel pole in the center, she made me do the check list, lights, mast, fire extinguisher, etc, etc, etc, then she made me get in, pick up a pallet, back around in a circle around that steel pole until I was in my starting position. Then she made me pick up the pallet again, back out and turn to place the same pallet on on upper level. She told the only way I could fail is if I damaged property, or people. Which I didn't. Certified. It's pretty easy actually. Forklifts are easy to operate. I used to need to load 4 of my own pallets onto a 1 ton cude truck inna warehouse, with minimal space between the back of the tuck and whatever was behind. 5 feet space, ouch ng the first to skids up towards the nose of the truck with 3 and 4 pallets. I had to learn. I remember getting into a heated yelling match with my manager about 15 years ago about that. I asked him if he could load my truck for me, he was good on the forklift. I was not certified. He told me to do it myself. I lost it on him. "F*** YOU! I AM NOT CERTIFIED TO USE THAT THING! I HAVE NEVER EVEN DRIVEN IT! WTF!?" I lost it on him in the warehouse in front of everyone and this is a big guy. He could pick me up and throw me through a wall I he wanted. He gets freaked out. I remember him recently, 2017, we got into it for her something he come over to me and grabbed a hold of me almost I'm a big to restrain me because he wasn't sure if I was gonna lose it on him. I think me exploding humbled him. I look crazy when I'm that angry spit flying out of my mouth, barking yelling, truely angry, not a show. I honestly believe it scary to him because he didn't know if I was going to lose it and attack him, I was already super stressed. It was a winter day, storming and I am going a long distance with a lot of stops. I lost it on him, he points towards the office where the boss resides and says "that's who you talk to about certification..." And his tone, I knew I humbled him because I was mad. I was p***ed, but I also had to show him up, so I learned to do it. Without certification. I hadn't driven one in 15 years until this newest place and it felt second nature to me.

I just started driving a lift for the first time ever back in June. I've gotten a lot better at it, but I'm still a beginner. My test was really bad. It was just pick up a pallet of parts, drive it about 50 feet in one direction, and then drive back and put it back down. And then I was certified. Even though their test was not thorough enough thankfully I'm a fast learner and I can drive it decently enough to where I won't cause any issues.

What’s up question. If the load is to big to see over so I have to drive backwards but in order to do so and exit I need to turn the forklift around but the area is to small to do so, do I lift the load till where I can see then turn it around and lower the load then continue to drive backwards? Or do I move forward with the load I can’t see over until there’s clear space on my sides and turn around? Seems unsafe so to me lifting it in the air, turning then dropping seems like the best option, am I right?
