How to park at a truck stop and not hit people’s equipment!!
My truck has been hit twice in the last 2 months and it’s quite annoying ! So I feel like it’s my job to show you how I back into parking spots! To me the main way to not hit people’s stuff is to just get out and LOOK … Enjoy the video

First day on my own I hit a guy's brush guard. Luckily there wasn't any damage. The guy was cool tho and actually gave me a backing lesson. and taught me some tricks on backing for like a half an hour. I learned more in 30 minutes than what my trainer taught in 25 days. I still look back to this day and think about how lucky I was that I hit that guy's truck. I think more ppl now days need to see a person who's obviously new and get out your truck and help that person instead of picking up the phone filming. Trucking is a stressful job and even more stressful when you are new. Especially since these megacarriers just throw random Joe's off the street into these big ass trucks. We need to help them out. we were all rookies at one point.

It's nice to get help but if you don't speak English fluently, please dont try to teach me how to back in. I was having trouble getting into a spot and this guy comes over speaking another language with a little English thrown in and I had no idea what he was trying to teach me. He was trying to tell me what to do for 15 minutes before he walked away. Once he finally walked away and let me keep trying on my own the way I was taught, I got it in there.

Just do what you need to do. As they see you doing it, they'll know you're new. Most will not grief you because they know. Some always will, but that's part of the game. Toughen up and ignore them. Normally as that plays out a 3rd person will side against them and they'll shut up.
When the trailer goes in nice n smooth it’s the best feeling, like having a nice cold one after long hard day.

Im a new driver and backing up in a truck stop is one of my highest fears. But after watching this clean and quick explanation im more calm
I SUCKED at backing in truck stops and all when I first went solo. My trainer only cared about racking up miles, so he never took time to teach me. He just yelled whenever I screwed up and rushed me because we were "burning time". I got a lot better once I was off his truck as he wasn't screaming in my ear about how shitty I was backing. When I'd talk to more experienced drivers, guys with decades behind the wheel, they'd all pretty much tell me how bad a trainer he was. No matter how good I got though, I NEVER stopped Getting Out and Looking. If I had any doubt to having the space available, I got out and looked.

Cool and accurate. Nice KW. GOAL. I drove tractor trailer 11 years till the worker comp back injury. You get better when you keep practicing. I really didn't care how many times I got out and looked or did corrective pull ups, I needed in that spot (whether for parking or the dock to load/unload) without hitting anything. If you didn't look, you can only blame self when you hit.

Good parking job! Do one on how to not tear someone’s front end off with the trailer, when pulling out
Yep i learned to focus and goal and pull ups are a good thing to strengthen or move the trailer over to the direction needed to get into the spot safely. I say this being humble for sure......
Need to show one where you don't have as much room to get in between trucks like one on each side. Some trk stops are not as roomy to swing in and out when you leave. Great video. Stay safe.😎👍

About the tip of getting out the cab and look out, i think its real helpful thing, especially for the new drivers, but i saw some experienced and older drivers saying that this is an absurde thing to do. I think they forget that they were also a rookie in the past, or just dont want admit this. Unfortunately, its hard to see an older guy in the job that is disposed to help the new ones.
You sound like me 😂 sitting at the yard wondering why it seems so difficult to some I also hostled in a tractor not just a mule pretty fun makes it more of a challenge rather than too easy 😉 challenge yourself when you can so when you have to its easy and you have the confidence for it. Sad to hear you seem to always have someone hitting you. 😪 it's better and everyone would rather you get out and look than damage another truck.

People are always competitive with counting pull ups, the way I see it, so as many as you need so you don’t nick another truck
There is a place here in Chatt that requires the driver to practically Jack knife their rig to get a 53’ trailer in the dock.
Well done, trucker!

If i hv to do a back like he is doing( i pull spread axle..u cant back a spread like a closed tandem) i will just get close as im backing in. I dint see a need to hit spot perfectly on first try if i have two open spots. I will get close then pull up and get into the space as i should.
