PSA: The blindspot checks are not just for your test. When you've passed and do any maneuvers on your own, do all your observations. All to common to see people forget others exist on the roads when they don't have an instructor or examiner in their car.

When I was learning to drive, around 10 years ago, I was taught to park around 1ft away from the curb. I remember watching so many KZread videos to learn how to parallel park so I could park closer to the curb or so I don't get hit by other cars driving past, on narrow roads

I always end up further from the curve cause I never have the luxury to park with that much ludicrous space. Best case scenario I got 2 meters from front and back of the car whe also being forced to be closer than 30 cm from the pavement.

@@cloudshifter gosh i can see myself in your situation because i drive a car that doesn't even have rear sensors. to make it worse, it's a sedan. i dont think having a manual transmission in my Proton is a disadvantage unless being stuck in a traffic jam...

The Key to perfect parallel parking is the distance you pull up against the car to far away and you will be to far away from the kerb. Angle on untill 45 degrees Angle off ( untill close see to kerb) Angle on

You can also do this using your mirror and the rear door handle. When the rear door hand in the mirror lines with the curb edge turn the wheel until the car straightened (my dad taught me how to parallel park with only 3 wheel turns and this tip and I can park in a paper cut for 26 years!)

@@rob2258 Just almost always going in at wrong angle ornturning wheels too earlynor too late. And ofc with this car that i have now, Fiat Punto, i have terrible feeling for how much space inhave behind me. Didn't have that problem with Opel Kadett few years ago and Opel was longer than Punto. While parking in reverse while only looking at mirrors isnthe easiest thing for me, while many people i know find that much harder than parallel parking.

Nice vid I'd like to give a good guide point which I sometimes use during the parallel park. When I turn my car one turn to the left I find a good guide point for when I steer the other way when the curb is no longer visible in the left mirror. This guide point can be a bit deceiving sometimes as it depends on the angle of the pavement/road, the car you drive and also the height of the driver but personally I find it to be a reliable thing to consider when doing the parallel park so when it vanishes in the mirror do a check to properly judge the distance before turning the other way. IDK if this is a good thing to do but so far it has not failed :)

That is if the parking isnt tight and you got like 30 meters to park. If you got two cars forward and behind and you're trying to park just right by having at best 2 meters difference from both cars, things get a bit more tricky.

I'm Dutch and I was taught to line up the back seat with the back of the car next to me, then steer in sharp. No straightening as you want to be able to get out the same way you got in (unless you got room but at that point you might as well park normally).

Wdym? Adjustments after you notice you didn’t quite get it right? If you do that spontaneously without hindering or endangering other traffic, do it! Makes you appear confident, aware and capable of correcting your own mistakes. If you meant stopping exactly at some point to make it easy for yourself, absolutely! You don’t have to just plop it in reverse and smack the car in the gap. As long as you don’t unnecessarily stop, why not? You can also give yourself a little extra room (like 0 > x (Stopping in the middle of your actions without good reason will make the examinator evaluate your actions negatively)

Do an L shape with your index and thumb. Cool, no imagine a diagonal line go from between the index and thumb up and out. That imaginary line is 45 degrees. | / | / | / | / | / |/__________ like this but less sharp. The gap on either side of the diagonal needs to be even

I don't know, i never look through the back window, i use only mirror, in the early years i had a job (driving a big van for laundry) i always backed up for load and unload, my boss wonderd how i did it, never hit the wall or tree, is was a s drive way between two buildings and the big Oak

Or.. you know.. you don’t straighten the steering wheel so that when you want to go your wheels are already pointing in the right direction. It’s bad for your tires if you turn your wheels standing completely still. And it saves you time and effort.

@@adamhussain3928 It wasn't a great way to park but if the space was big enough I use to reverse a bit faster making it easier to get in. If you have ever driven a non power steering car you will then know never to dry steer modern cars, the amount of force that against tarmac is not good at all.
