How To Paint Wood & Sylvaneth (3 Colours, 1 Brush)
This is the method I use to get quick, easy wood colours on my undead Sylvaneth. All it requires is three paints: Rhinox Hide (Citadel), Leather Brown (Army Painter) and Ice Yellow (Vallejo), and one drybrush! So far it's proved to be quick and effective, which is very useful when you've got another 30 models to paint with 6 more on the way...

Ice Yellow is the most magic paint ever.
"Happy Little Tree Nightmare" Kiri is new bob ross and I am happy with that. Really like the look of your trees so may have to do this myself as various projects are making really want Slyvaneth
Very nice job Kiri. Also I may steal “Happy Little Tree Nightmare” as a phrase...
Your happy little tree nightmare looks considerably better than "not too bad". Very nicely done!
Nice, drybrushing is a trick I use a lot. I use it mostly with silver over armour and vehicles. I don't often go for that comic book edge highlighting.
Honestly these and the Steamcast are so awesome!
Brilliant. If you ever use these in a game I don't think anyone would complain about it.
probably the best and simplist wood painting method i have ever seen, you're making me want to start a sylvaneth army now just to try the method out for myself...
I'm new to the hobby and have been working on a Space Wolves army. Tempted to start an AOS army now with more organic models so I can use more fast techniques like dry brushing, Orcs and Orgres both seem cool. . Although yet to play a game of 40K, so I should probably do that to see if I even like tabletop wargaming first!
Been so hyped for the new update on your new projects
Makeup brushes are a cheap and readily available option for drybrushing. This also gives you quite a few small ones, which means you can drybrush smaller spaces.
This is just inpirational man
I have always loved both undead and Sylvaneth, and this is a perfect blend between the two. If I ever start an AoS army, it will be this. Kiri, I hope you don’t mind if I steal this army design in the future. Spot on!
Man this is such a solid color,I've actually been looking for something exactly like this but had never considered using like a mix of brown and yellow to get lighter tone. I had always just gone the birch tree route and used something whiteish like pallid wylch flesh. Will give this idea a go though since it looks really nice
GW: you can play Sylvaneth from all over AOS. KiriothTV: Ok, I play the Sylvaneth from Ulfenkarn. GW: ... ?! Those Sylvaneth are so awesome! Please continue! (also GW supports your ideas and kitbashing by giving you unique (okay only 5 different by today) zombies to tag into your army without looking different)
That ice yellow works really well, I wouldn't have thought to use that over a lighter brown. I'll pick a bottle up and try it out
Bruv these look amazing! If these wood elves came like this I would have started an army! Great work Ans really like the second Channel 🤗
More than okay mate, looks brilliant! Look forward to seeing what you paint next :)
Pretty awesome driftwood effect, and 20 mins per model is hard to beat! My favourite method for speed painting sylvaneth is to spray them with zandri dust, then do a quick drybrush of ushabti bone, mainly focusing on the face, hands and tops of any branches. Then I wash the whole thing with seraphim sepia. Finally I use a few layers of waywatcher green glaze (I guess you have to use contrast paint instead these days) on the tops of the branches to build up a slightly greenish effect, like the new growth of the branches. After that it's just a case of painting any details and it's done.
I love that little fellow, and I think you did a real good job on painting him and also making him look more grim. I primed mine yesterday and hope to paint him this weekend. I will use him in my Sylvaneth army as some sort of druid (or what the magical ones are called) and plan tu use that faceshield with horns on it on him. For all my Sylvaneth I prime them with the lgrey/white primer from Citadel and then I use Cygor brown or Wyldwood Contrast paint for the bark (very a little to make the trees look a little different), then I drybrush with Mournfang brown and sometimes with a little XV-88.
Channelling Bob Ross there to good effect.☺
Hello there!
This looks like it took a lot longer than 20 minutes! Great job, really good scheme, probably even more so because it's basic and therefore clean. Please tell me there's an evil little Akhorne (the squirrel) in this army somewhere?
These look absolutely gorgeous. I want to ask, since I want to do something similar: is there any good way to get those spikey crag parts coming out of Drycha at the beginning? I don't think the terrain piece you mentioned is still in production.
What colour did you use for the leaves? I really like how they fit with the wood colour
are we getting any more videos?
What do you do with the leaves? They don't look drybrushed
Does anyone know where he got the models for the skeletons for the other models?
All of these conversions are giving me too many army ideas, this is dangerous. Also, have all the little leaves and branches on the Sylvaneth given you any grief?

Yeah I'm the same, conversions always make things a little more expensive as well!

Say no to wooden mechs. It's Warhammer not Doctor Who.
