I actually kinda liked Olivia's painting. She wrote "thirsty" so I kinda imagined the catfish is hallucinating and the sky is melting and shit

I did not expect Shayne to paint so well. The way he painted the beach and the texture of the foam of the ocean, especially where they blend to make a teal/turquoise, looks like the work of an actual art student. The colors and values were spot on

Barb passively aggressively insulting shayne's art and grading unfairly is an actual thing some art profs do when they're jealous/insecure. Usually you can find them at universities and colleges with smaller art programs, but it's not impossible to hear horror stories from art school alumni.

I'd say Olivia is more surrealist than abstract art and Noah's style is close to Impressionism. Modern art is not a specific style but a period that includes both Impressionist, abstract, surrealism and many other art styles.

I love how shane is just, thoroughly disturbed throughout the entire thing.

You could see Court smile slightly when people were clapping for her painting like she was legit proud of it and was amazed that people liked it. It was adorable

As a former art student... Oliva looks like the rich kid in the class who is pissed off about being rich and refuses to follow the rules, Noah is the guy taking the art class to be with the girl he has a crush on, Shayne is the guy who is a really good artist but has zero confidence and the wannabes put him down to try and make themselves look better

Shayne’s looks like it was done by a professional painter, Barb’s looks like it came from a Dr. Seuss book, Noah’s looks really good, and Olivia’s looks like she dropped acid right before walking into class. Shayne deserved an 8/10 just for his perfect catfish, not even including his lovely sunset. I want to give him a hug. Also Noah's colour palette and catfish were super lovely. It doesn't read as a 'catfish' to me, but another seacreature like a trilobite which I think is super super cool. Olivia's work reminded me of abstract work similar to Kandinsky (in a good way of course). Courtney's take on a catfish was unexpected and creative. The choice of the green for it's tail and it's silly smile make me happy.

@Kaya Styles holy shit I'm sorry to hear that, I hope you can still enjoy art now despite her. My dad went spent a lot of time in art school and his style was opposing what was in vogue and found it difficult to continue. But he does art for his own pleasure now and has even joined contests. No one should have a say over whether anyone's art, whether it be painting/drawing/music/writing is 'good' or not. It can definitely make it difficult when you have a really bad traumatic memory attached to something, I haven't done any driving lessons because my last teacher had serious anger management and would literally tremble/shake with anger at any small mistake I made and berate me shouting in public, but I'm gonna try to give it another shot hopefully.

Imagine an SNL Obama skit, but the actor is doing an Arnold Schwarzenegger voice. It can still be funny, but it’s not good parody.

ya know what's funny, completely unironically-I like Olivia's the most. Good color contrast, it balances out the static composition, and it could easily be played off as conceptual. The red over the yellow pops and the color harmonies are like eye candy to me. She doesn't resort to brown when mixing her colors and the saturation is gorgeous. It makes me wish I was kidding haha. When she gave up on trying to be conventionally good she tapped into some real potential

the crazy thing is that courtney actually looks like the character, like she does not just pull that of...she IS the character

Olivia’s looks like an abstract impressionist painting. Looks great outside of and opposing the lens of realism that Barb strives for.

This remains one of my all time favorite Smosh vids. Really wish they'd bring Barb back

Yeah the pacing and the lack of music during a lot of it made it even funnier! A+

Courtney and Shayne's abilities to get into a character and stay in that character and make them a real person is just amazing. The whole crew is talented of course, but those two are just amazing at creating new characters and getting into who that character is.

I have been watching Smosh since the first Food Battle. This is my favorite one-off video they have ever done. I want Courtney to reprise her role as Barbwire Restricted area so bad! This is like a comfort video for me. Too funny!

Noah’s had a beautiful sunset and color Olivia’s was really freaking cool deserved a 8 Shaynes was perfectly blended scaled had for and background the catfish was good deserved a 9 Barbs gave me dr Seuss book cover nostalgia and I loved it

Shaynes is dope. The catfish has a lot of personality.

Shayne: experienced painter who could honestly teach a class Noah: amateur painter who just started to dabble with his brush. Olivia: that weird person who would take other people's colors and accidentally signed up for an art class when they truly wanted to do underwater basket weaving.

"Clearly you didnt go to art cult" will be how i defend my Theatre degree from now on.
