I'm glad to hear someone state that it's not mineral spirits, but rather mechanical action removing the paint. It's a common enough misconception and when I'm just some dude, people don't really take me seriously when I say it. Also big respect for leaving in the mistake. It's always nice to see talented people make mistakes and not just perfection model after model like some channels.

Bit of a arbitrary distinction, because without the chemicals the paint wouldn’t come off (at least not properly/without damaging it anyway)

@@ObjectiveMedia Not in the slightest? If you know it's mechanical action, you're being careful the entire time. If you think it's just the white spirits then you're more likely to minimise contact time with white spirits and paint, actually rushing to get it done. Knowing the cause is a great way to avoid that damage. And no, white spirits just sitting there, for ages, won't do anything. If you take a brush and start jabbing at minis like I've seen some people do, you will damage paint layers.

@@ObjectiveMedia IPA is stronger than white spirits lol, by a good margin White spirits won't dissolve plastic at all You can literally look it up online - white spirits won't dissolve plastic, it won't even ruin or affect the paint lol IPA WILL destroy paint. You have this reversed and I'm very, very, very, very confused by what you think white spirits are, given they're actually much weaker than IPA. Having said all of that, IPA won't dissolve plastic either. 100% IPA is used to strip minis frequently. It can destroy resin though.

They aren't strictly speaking a solar aux cohort, but a mortal regiment that existed in the Heresy that I would love to see how you would go about painting would be a Vostroyan force. I have one that I've been sitting on for ages and never really got started because I don't even know where to start making them grungy enough. I think the Aethon in this video has an armor color close enough to be transferable to Vostroyan khaki armor, but would still love to see how you'd tackle it. I tried the clear tamiya red for my LI Thousand Sons, the results were beautiful but the fumes were pretty strong and I got scared off by all the health warnings which included headaches, dizziness, asphyxiation and in sever overexposure cases death which felt like a bit of an escalation. I switched to using blood for the blood gods slightly diluted which gave fairly similar results with a nice glossy finish without the fear of hobby death. The Tamiya still sits on my desk though, calling to me as the ring called to Bilbo.
