    BRILLIANT! All the tutorials I've seen so far have been using fresh blood and fancy brush techniques, but dried filthy blood blown on with a straw? That's TRULY realistic blood spatter! Thank you.

    Great video. I got the Vallejo Special Effects Set. You get Flesh Blood and Dried Blood which are reasonable effective. You also get Vomit, Verdegris, Dry Rust, Rust, Rotten White and some Chipping Medium. All the ingredients for creating something pretty gory. Or a really bad cocktail.

    The straw method was really cool and worked great. With the smallest brush I had with an extremely small amount of paint I could use it on a mini and it looked awesome.

    Filthy congealed blood. I would never think to mix together BFTBG and TC together. I will be giving this a go. The airbrush on a low pressure to get a splatter is a nice technique I have used myself on terrain. I watched Alex from 52 Miniatures mentioning using a drinking straw for a much more controlled and smaller splatter too. Excellent vid mate. Loved the “science with” section.

    Thanks bud! The Typhus corrosion can really make all the difference, especially when those bits of pigment clump together. When you get that it's just next level! I actually watched Alex's vid as I was researching thumbnail and title ideas for this video, some really good stuff in there!

    I know this video was uploaded some 11 months ago. But does anyone know if a dark brown + deep red mix could give a similar effect? Or what to get that isn’t citadel to get equivalents of Blood for the Blood God and Typhus Corrosion? I really don’t like citadel pots, and my autism sometimes makes it difficult to visualize what mixes would make good substitutes.

  • @SprayBlackStudios

    @SprayBlackStudios

    2 жыл бұрын

    A dark brown and deep red mix could get a close enough colour but without the properties of those paints wouldn't neccessarily get the same finish. A few companies do similar products, the one I would probably recommend is the Greenstuff world coagulated blood. It's a very similar product and comes in a dropper bottle!

  • @dixiefugazi6323
    @dixiefugazi63232 жыл бұрын

    Is there any way of achieving this effect without Typhus Corrosion, I am currently painting a pyramid head model and need this effect, would something like Stirland Battlemire work?

  • @SprayBlackStudios

    @SprayBlackStudios

    2 жыл бұрын

    Stirland battlemire is probably a little bit thick sadly, it could work if it has been thinned considerably but the particles in it are pretty big. The colour can be matched relatively easily using various browns but the key of the Typhus corrosion is the small particles within that provide that clumping effect.

  • @ErokLobotomist

    @@thecalvatron1955 no worries buddy! If you take a look at my instagram there is a photo of a Zephyrim prior to the streaking grime being added. What I do is to drill a small hole into the bottom of the jump pack where the base sits and then to insert a long pin and paint the mini whilst on a cork. To fit the base I'll then remove the pin and replace it with a shorter one that's been set into a drilled hole at the top of the flight stand stem. Hope that helps!
