It looks great! We’re also in the desert and painting our garage door a nice dark color. It really pops with the landscape here.

Looks good brother. I was gonna get a new garage door (3 car garage) due to the garage stopped working. It's from 1996. Got quoted at 4700 bucks... So I bought a new carrier for 20 bucks and am going to go your route and just service and repaint. Nice video. End result looks fantastic.

I have a similar roller door. I lined the inside with Foilboard Insulation as my door faced West. It made a huge difference in the Summer in stopping radiant heat.

I wish I knew how, it was brand new paid by insurance and didn’t want to accidentally void the warranty and break something!

I have to do this today. Saturday. I'm in Alabama and my HOA sent me a letter saying I had to. :/

Welcome! It’s just exterior acrylic paint. You can upgrade and get masonry/stucco paint if you want added flexibility and durability.

Nice job! What are you going to do with the cracked driveway? I have the very same problem and looking for solutions.

On the new garage door, did you have to sand or prime the door? Also, is that a latex paint or oil base paint? Thanks.

Nope no prep required it will take paint perfectly, keep in mind if the door faces the sun the paint will dry very quickly. I used exterior 100% acrylic paint. Behr e600 Flat.

How long did you allow the paint to dry between the panels before operating the door? Same question about the top and edges? How long did you wait for the paint to dry?

If the door is in direct sunlight it will dry in minutes. To be safe you can wait 30 minutes, typically exterior paint jobs dry very quickly!

Hi, looks great! Did you apply a primer before painting ( appears not?). If not, any worry about adhesion? Also does the paint in the grooves peel off when you open/close the door?

Thanks! No need for primer. And no issues with peeling 8 months later. I used exterior stucco paint for added flexibility.

Great video, how long did it take to dry and did you have any issues with the door sticking since you painted the edges ?

Thanks! The sun dried it very quickly, 5-10 mins. Longer dry time in the shade. No issues with sticking after drying.

To be honest I don’t know! I had Home Depot color match using left over paint. It’s a color from the previous owners. I am guessing it’s some type of Charcoal or deep gray.
