Been binge watching as I just can't help myself due to the way you present everything in such great detail and your soothing voice really calms me! As I’m watching you apply your initial layers of paint, it reminds me of hot press paper. Do you ever use hot press? I purchased a block of Fabriano for an online course, and I just cannot enjoy using it because it’s so much harder to blend. I know this is going to be beautiful, but it is kind of blotchy to start.

Hi Anne. I do use hot pressed but like you, I don’t get on with it for the reasons you’ve stated. It’s difficult to get a smooth blend. For me anyway

@@helencampbell Thank you! I found a wonderful book by Susan Harrison-Tustain (her paintings are fabulous) who only uses hot press. I thought that might help me out. I think the problem for me is that while I love detail, and I greatly admire her paintings, that would be so much work for me that it would take away a lot of the pleasure I get from watercolor. Your paintings are also beautiful, and I so much appreciate that you teach in a way that allows a lot of students to be successful. Thank you for breaking things down, and all of the wonderful images you provide. AND, I also purchased the set of Rosemary & Co. Spotter brushes you recommended. I’m in the U.S., so I pay extra for shipping, but they are still very reasonably priced, and great brushes!
