The high level of detail in the newer GW kits can feel intimidating, as every surface is packed with lots of visual information. We have seen content creators claiming this is a case of "oversculpting" and other, equally made-up terminology. But the detail is very crisp: sharp things are sharp, soft things are soft, and the angles are all light-volume-friendly. Just break it down into sections, or by color, and you will get through it just fine. The high level of detail on these kits will reward your efforts, not hinder them!

It's not a matter of it being hard to paint, it's a matter of it not being fun to paint. Sure, you'll "get through it just fine", but I don't want to "get through it", I want to enjoy painting. I'm not sure what your comment is meant to achieve. You like to have a lot of detail on models, that's fine; other people don't like that, that's also fine. Why do you feel the need to act like that (obviously subjective) opinion is "wrong" somehow? P.S. calling oversculpting "made-up terminology" in an obvious effort to discredit the criticism behind it is a fallacy. All terminology is made up by someone, that says nothing about the validity of the underlying concept.

I think many new painters can get intimidated by the detail, but it's always okay to paint to your comfort level. If you prime black you can just leave belts and cloth black, or if you spray your armor color and don't paint them at all then they're just sculpted onto the armor too. It's okay to let the detail blend in, or save it for when you're more comfortable doing it.

ALL of the new stormcast heroes look so intimidating to paint, to the point where i am deciding against buying Vermindoom. The fold out map in the corebook was the most exciting reveal for me. Thank you for at least releasing these tutorials BEFORE we spend our money.

Comments enabled on a Warhammer video?! Looks great. Outlining the free-hand details in pencil was a surprise. I'll have to give that a go. Planning on splitting a Skaventide box, but I think I'll go for a little brighter color scheme on my gryph-stalker

Perhaps they hope to have all the tutorials done for every model *before* the box launches, which isn't a bad idea either. There's lots of units to cover for two factions, so there's time. :)

What grade of pencil is used to mark out the details? Just an ordinary HB pencil? I'd be a little scared of scratching the paint. D:

I use a ordinary HB pencil & lightly sketch it on, going a bit harder in some spots. Haven't damaged the paint job yet so as long as you aren't trying to push the pencil through the plastic you should be good! :)
