Please tell me if the Bin Shellac Primer was oil or watercolor based?? Not sure which one you used? Thank you🥰
The amount of effort you put into it with 2 x primer and 2 x gloss is worth it, it looks like a stylish high end furniture piece.
I love bringing new life to old things so this video…love it!!!
*i love it and i love the original hardware! you two did a fab job!*
It turned out so beautifully! Brava!
It's GORGEOUS! I have used oil based paint on my daughter's dresser but it didn't smell. I won't use it again because I love chalk paint. But for durable, glossy results oil based paint is incredible! Thanks so much for sharing
love the glossy finish.
Gorgeous!
Thanks so much for this instructional video. Reality has set in.
Your narration is so real. Huge fan!

I was just going to comment on her great narrating. Nice voice. Sometimes she reminds me of Meghan Kelly.
Thank you. Love it, and thank you no gray!! yay!! I wanted a really nice gloss. In a soft yellow cream color. Couldn't figure it out. I Thank you . 💞🙏 Binn buy Bin Shellac. Yay
You guys did an amazing job!
So fancy!!!! ❤❤❤
really nice paintjob! the problem with the water based primer wasn't the thinning in my opinion... in general water based primer only sticks to wood really well.... which means that you would have to sand off all the old finish for the 123 primer to stic k properly! but the new method you tried was neat! good stuff!
I have never seen the watered down plastic wood brushed on and I've been doing this professionally for over 5 years. I don't typically fill wood grain but it's a great tip to know. Thanks
I love it, you did such a great job on it

Thanks!
Very Helpful.
I love how this dresser turned out!
I LOVE it!
Omg I had the EXACT same problem with the 123 on my last project. But was a dresser set! Luckily it stuck to the drawers. I ended up using the shellac based after too.
You both did an amazing job!.

I love it.
This is exactly the look I want for my mid-century hutch
This is amazing. Perhaps the only video with Rustoleum enamel paint. Does it actually self level so well?
yoooo i’m so happy man!!!
Very nice
Love it ✨🏆🏆✨

Beautiful

I JUST had the same issue with a water based primer scratching off. Boo!!!! It’s such a bummer. I felt for you! But in the end this turned out beautifully!

Dang!! I'm sorry to hear that! Guess we have to stick with the tried and true! haha
Working girl ❤❤❤❤
This is great. I’m painting my nite stands black with gold knobs I have a grey headboard and wondering if I can paint my dresser this white with gold or black accents ? Who can help me answer this.
Love how this turned out!! I don't understand what happened with the first primer coat though? Do you know why it scratched off so badly? Thanks!

I really don't know other than adding water to it so I could spray it.
Did the oil based paint start to turn yellow over time?
Awesome 👌, how many paint coats did you do please? Didn't you paint a final laquer ? Thank you

Oh I can’t remember, but I think I needed 3 coats of white paint. There was no clear topcoat on this piece. That is the oil based paint.
I hope i can learn from your mistakes. Im very beginning in this DIY painting. Thanks so much
Hi love the look! Did you topcoat it at all? Wondering how it is resisting scratches? Thank you!

Thanks! This is oil based paint, so it is very durable on its own. It is completely different than using waterbased paints that are so popular and prevalent today.
Love it. White is not my thing but looks nice. Oh, and I love sniffing the paint. Not sure how bad it is for health.
Those looks incredible! Did you put a top coat or is it not necessary for oil base paints?

Thanks! Oil based paints do not need topcoats.
❤
A lot of effort but looks amazing. Great video. On a side note I was worried about your throat as your voice seems to struggle. Hope it is nothing serious. Look forward to your other videos.
Sort of want a very close up of the entire finished product so we could see how smooth it turned out.
After the first glossy paint, do you need to sand it before applying the second coat, thx
@ARayofSunlight

I sanded only where I had drips or where it felt rough because dust landed on it while drying. Oil based paint takes forever to dry enough to sand without clogging up the sandpaper.
Considering all the effort you put in, I would have left it as was. And I prefer a natural wood look anyways. But good job done 👍
Use oil base primer for not wood surface furnitures then caulking and then 2 coats water base paint or oil base up to you..
Can you change the color of a furniture that has already high gloss?
@ARayofSunlight

Yep, you just have to prep it properly before painting it again.
This saves a lot of money. Right big sis?
I like you Lady❤❤❤❤
What did you use as glossy paint again?

Links to the products I used are in the description of this video for ya.
use tinted lacquer
I’ve followed all of the steps but for some reason the first coat of the paint turned out so bad. Bumpy all over. Looks awful. Feels awful. I’m not giving up tho. Any tips is much appreciated. Thanks

i’d suggest sanding the areas you do not like. not all the way but for a smoother texture and using a brush and lightly go over it until it blends in.
Do you have to use a spray ? Can you use a tiny roller ?
@ARayofSunlight

You can roll or brush it on if you want.
123 primer take 3 months to dry
You really have patience. I would have burnt it.
👍🥇🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦
So to summarize, there is no Quick & Easy when looking to achieve smooth, high gloss finishings. Sand, sand, prime, sand, prime, sand, sand some more and paint..
👍🤍💚❤🇵🇰
If the wood material is mahogany or better I will prefer the original look and colour and use lacquer for renewal. What do you think ? 🟫
