I feel like the first one is for people who are better with the acrylic and the other one is for people who find it easier with watercolor 😊 thats what I love about gouache, it is so versatile
I found this to be a really interesting approach. Most of the artists I’ve watched do a base of the darkest and work their way to light. I like how you go between values and how deep the form becomes. Well done!
thanks for the tutorial! been too nervous to start painting (to the point of not even enjoying the process anymore) but this tutorial is so easy to follow and makes me want to get my paints out!

So I've been using gouache for probably about 5 years now (taught via KZread) and I've learned so much from just two of your videos. So amazing 😍
Great video! One particularly noticeable difference between the two is in the way the wet-on-dry technique creates a greater sense of depth, layers, and separation within the bush (i.e. darks recede and lights advance, chunky sections are identifiable) and the wet-on-wet is a bit more flat and homogenous. Both are good, but I think it's helpful to see that difference and to keep it in mind so you know which to apply, depending on one's desired effect.
You are the only artist I know that has done a step-by-step tutorial in this way. I really appreciate your efforts and hope you will get back what you give out ten-fold :) because this is amazing. I really needed something like this otherwise I was about to give up on painting. Thank you, sending lots of love your way♥
I’m so glad I found your channel! I recently bought my first set of gouache paint and I’m having so much fun but I’m still very clueless as to what I’m doing lol. Thank you!
Both bushes are so pretty! Thanks for showing your process.
As a beginner, this is extremely helpful. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this!

Thank you so much for this tutorial! Im new to gouche, I work with watercolors, and I worked with acrylics...I have struggled with the consistency and control of the water 😔 on the brush.
@ogygia Art Your videos are great and your art is very beautiful.
I rather prefer the wet on dry one, but I'd use the wet on wet for a background bush. Again, thanks for your big assist! 👏👏
Thanks for this tutorial, it was very helpful 🍄🍃🤗 I've been searching for a foliage/ plants video tutorial to improve my watercolor illustrations and I really like your observations ☺️
Amei o vídeo ❤️❤️😍 I loved the video ❤️❤️😍

How about devoting an installment to gradation. I've been struggling with it since falling in love with gouache. It's an especial problem when the subject matter of a picture intrudes into a big graded background such as a building against the sky or the sea.
You have a beautiful nose! I really enjoyed this tutorial thank you❤
Wow loved your work!! Have subscribed 😀👍but could you please tell which colours you are mixing or focus on mixing colors .and little bit slower one? looking forward to more such tutorials 🎉😀❤️

Can you do this with acrylics ? Will it look pretty much the same ?
@OgygiaArt
2 жыл бұрын
I’m not used acrylic but my guess would be you could use the same method. However, since acrylic is water resistant and is way more opaque, there’s may be some adjustments needed. I would suggest you try it on a small area to see 😊
Which kind of paper did you use for gouache?
@OgygiaArt
Жыл бұрын
Usually, anything above 250lb watercolor would work. The one I use most often is the canson XL watercolor paper. For this video in particular, I used Etchr sketchbook
What is that color box called? Where did you buy it?
@OgygiaArt
2 жыл бұрын
I got it on Amazon. Look for watercolor palette box and it should pop up
Maybe it’s my brush, but I can’t seem to get the leaves go look very differentiated or like they are going in different directions, they end up looking more uniform and the same size.

I would suggest experimenting more with your brush strokes on its own before going in for the painting. The more you press down on the brush, the bigger the stroke. If you use a flat brush for example, using the corner, the front edge or the full flat surface will give you different strokes. You can experiment with them all and note down what strokes your brush can make. I hope that helps!
great video ! the music is just a bit annoying after 10min
Whoa whoa whoa… hold up. Is that a dry erase board you’re using as a mixing pallet? Edit - Oh, turns out it’s a pan. Still a good idea.

The video being sped up and not explaining how youre doing things isnt really beginner friendly
