If I may make a suggestion on finding the center of anything that is fairly flat. I was trained in the 1960's as a commercial artist ( back in the day before it was called graphic arts on computers). Lay a straight edge ( either a ruler or anything staight) on the surface from one diagonal corner to the other and draw a faint line near what you think will be the center. Then do the same on the other diaganol corners. You will then have a cross which is the dead center. Two simple, quick, accurate movements without the need to use a measuring tool. For a round surface like a rock you can use a string to do approximately the same thing. I hope this might help. When I was working we had to get things done fast and any trick of the trade helped. 😊

You don't have to struggle to find the centre of a square or a rectangle. Just draw 2 diagonal lines the intersection point is all you need.
I’ve wondered how to start, and what you do if you make a mistake. I’ve never done mandala YET. I plan to get supplies and start very soon. Thank you.

Thank you. Really informative, very helpful for beginning this beautiful hobby.
This was so insightful. Most other videos I've watched, they're too concerned with waving and clacking their freshly painted fingernails! I enjoyed the entire tutorial, and, thank you for the option of NOT following lines all the time! I go more by my feel (cause I'm a rebel like that). I'm painting my first rock as I was listening and watching your tutorial. They will now be part of my water feature (my design and build)!

I've noticed that people either enjoy me talking out the process. Or they don't like hearing me talk. That really feels like it's fifty fifty. But I have always felt a video is difficult to see really. What the person is doing or thinking... especially with design work. Also I feel like it helps to say things like. I'm pushing down harder on my brush. Or now. I'm picking up the brush. Cause you can't really see that in the video. I've tried to make that my goal to do in every video
Simply beautiful. I think this will be a great beginner one for me. Time to start practicing my dots. Wish me luck

I did it 😊 and I must say I am very happy for it being my first one. I did it on a black painted canvas board. I do need to get my dots closer together and maybe some dotting tools with flat bottoms (like dowels) as that worked better for me than crochet hooks or dotter. Thank you for the easy tutorial. Plus also to show how to fix boo boos as I made a few

I started trying mandala dot art on rocks with my adult kids. We did it by using a video which wasn't really meant for beginners. Got a fairly decent result and we loved the process. However, I am a hopeless perfectionist when it comes to trying to do art of any kind. So began to seek more education from books and other artists videos. This beginner video is the first one to give me sufficient info that I can now move on with confidence in this medium. Thank you so much. Will watch all your other videos as I progress.
