Hi there, Liron here!
Today we'll talk about painting according to your vision, AND how this translates into a process.
I'll put extra emphasis on watercolors' strengths, such as creating beautiful smooth transitions and edges.
I hope you'll enjoy this one 🙏

I don't really SEE the nuances of this scene until I watch you paint it! (I've never been to the desert; perhaps that's part of it!)

Thanks Liron. Interesting stuff you did with the opaques at the end, which reminded me of my big discovery of 2023. It's a way to add texture to walls, tree trunks, metal posts, anything really. I get some titanium white watercolour (PW6 and opaque, just like the gauche you were using). Mix it up pretty watery, paint a stripe along the edge of the shape I'm interested in, paint water over the rest of the shape and encourage a bit of bleeding, then dab off all the paint with kitchen paper, not too quickly but not too late. Get the timing right and the whole shape gets an amazing texture. Discovered by accident like all good watercolour techniques. Wondering now whether I should try out a variation of this but with some colour mixed into the white.

Now that I've learned the term 'high key' so well explained, I think it was helpful to comment on brightness & saturation, that darkest is not brightest and that each color hue has a unit sweet spot for it's brightness.

i dunno Liron... you inverted the chroma on the left side of the picture, the yellows are close to the observer, the red/orange hue is far away from the camera. You have some bright yellow and naples yellow and then you start transitioning to ochre with a bright red hue and at the end there is red/orange tones in the farthest part of the land BUT the big rock formation on the right side is outstanding. well done !

@@LironYan i think you are just used to darker values near the PoV so you inverted the colours. I would have used the darker tones at the horizon as a pretext to use some light violet or light purple to calm down the red/maroon hues of the darker tones of the land. Anyways... the focal point on the right was gorgeous !
