My late husband, Jim Boyle, and I owned an art gallery, frame shop and studio in a little town in the Upstate of South Carolina. Jim was a lifelong artist and spent 25 years in our little shop. I helped out but I had a full time job as a journalist in a small daily newspaper. Those were the best years of our lives together, so when you retire, go find a quaint little store and fill it with your work. Cheers!
Once again you continue to amaze me with the generosity of your time, your glowing talent, and love of location and history. I watch your videos with my morning coffee. You make me ready for whatever comes. Thank you.

Wow, thank you! ... lovely comment Barb!
Just wonderful to watch. Fun, light-hearted chat gives me the confidence to try. Your perfectionism doesn’t translate to exclusivity; in other words, give it a go, or in American colloquial English, give it the old college try.

Thanks Rita - so pleased you enjoyed it!
My great-grandfather had a grocer's shop in Lancashire in the 1800s, but unfortunately I don't have a picture. This painting was so inspiring. Absolutely loved it.

Sounds great! - cheers Kathryn!
This was by far the most heartfelt and closely knitted episode I've seen on the channel, specifically from how Paul, you took us through the entire drawing, to your family's historical roots, accent variation, music scores and leaving room for others to participate in terms of colors and ending with a perfect streak of creative followers' work. Amazing job mate. Would like to see this interactive method more. :)

Thanks very much - that's such a great comment and much appreciated Aman.
"It's my shop and I can sell what I like" -- that gave me a good chuckle. That's awesome you have photos of your great-great-grandfather's shop. Great challenge Margo.
A born and bred Ashfordian here! (Now in the Midlands!) Great to hear my home town given a mention!

Wonderful Andy ..... I had to think about these for a moment..... Lol!
Paul, if you’re hiring, I’ve over 30 years of retail experience LOL I absolutely LOVED this!!! And it was really lovely to see the photos of your Great-Great-Grandfather’s shop from back in the day, also hearing about the provenance of your accent and the Cockney rhyming slang. You never cease to surprise and delight us, dear Paul. Clarkies’ storefront turned out, well, stunning. That brick wall…WOW! I’m definitely giving Didi’s Bits & Bobs a try 😁 Thank you once more for a wonderful video! 👏❤️

Thank you so much!! I just love this lesson. This is what I would like to learn how to paint. Thank you from the Middle Colony of Chicago in the USA... don't forget to have a pint with your bubble and squeak!!!
All that comes to mind is Charles Dickens's Old Curiosity Shop. Just wonderful to watch you 👏

Art & Fruit 😂😂😂... You always make me laugh... I'm going to paint my husband's first place of employment in NYC, that he dreams about all the time, for his birthday!!! Great tutorial!
Lovely painting, when I think it's finished and perfect, a new detail is added. I am an oil painting artist and I don't dare with watercolor.
I love the guitar, cello, vocal music here.
"Paul and Margot's Funny Clothes" Bahahahaha. Good one. So lovely, so many people making adorable art. I want to be Joyce Barnaby and go on one of your painting retreats.
I love the extra bits of knowledge we get from your comments throughout the videos. Now I know some cockney slang! It was also neat seeing the old photos from your ancestry. You're lucky to have those! Thanks for another wonderful tutorial.

I think this is my all time favorite, this is so cute and cozy. My Great Grandmother and Grandmother were a Clark's from England. They showed me a lot of old pics some on copper plates that were hard to see but I loved the old shop pics. and ships. Thank you so much for this wonderful painting.

So charming! I loved this painting and what a great idea to have everyone customize it! Also loved the old photos of your Great Grandfather's shops. The Cockey slang was fun as well - the only time I've heard it was in an old Cary Grant film. You have the best channel by far! Thanks so much for all these amazing tutorials.
