This video is about how to paint a realistic finger in gouache with tiny details. Finger is a very important part of our hand and it contains a lot details when seen up-close. In this video, I have tried to capture all those tiny little details and the variation in colors while painting a realistic looking finger using the gouache paint. As always, I started with a basic graphite drawing where I also added some suggestive marks in order to get an overall view of the whole volume of finger. Once I was happy with the drawing, I started putting the initial layers of paint like I always do for my paintings. At this stage I was only thinking about the larger shapes and was also following the direction of the wrinkles in the joints to paint them as natural as possible. The basic colors that I used for this particular painting are crimson red, yellow ochre, burnt sienna, vermilion and cerulean blue. I obviously used a lot of white and black on certain areas in order to create the tints and the shades of those colors I have just mentioned. Once the basic layer of paint was established, I shifted to smaller brushes of size “0” and “00” in order to add tiny details and the overall texture of the skin on certain areas which as a whole made the finger looks realistic and detailed.
