    So you dont use a primer, just straight to the paint? Any trouble with the paint coming off over time? Most paints dont like sticking to plastics.

    I haven't had any paints peel or come off so far. Lacquer Acrylics are particularly durable, they have a finish comparable to nail polish and are extremely tough.

    Thank you for the informative video! I am about to order a chess set made out of PLA 3d printed material. Will this method work?

    Yes you can also paint PLA pieces. Here's an example of how they look: instagram.com/p/ChHgHWMhgbQ/

    Hello Conor I’m a bit tardy to the party but I believe you remember who I am. I contacted you about the Dubrovnik / Zagreb 3 D pristine sets and we transacted on that deal. This video shows the clear transparent knight @ time stamp 7:27 as you begin the explanation on how to achieve the transparency effect of the printed pieces. Can you show me where I can find this set? I looked at your link but none were successful. Do you have a photo of all 6 pieces from this beautiful clear knight piece? Your help well be greatly appreciated. All the best, Jorge from New York City.

    Hi Jorge, great to hear from you again. That set is an original design of mine, called The Ecliptic Set. You can see more photos of it here: conorokane.gumroad.com/l/xeuYVU And I have vendors printing this set for sale. Hirschi's Sweet Creations offers it in transparent resin in many colors for $75 hsweetcreations.com/products/ecliptic-3d-printed-chess-set?variant=40632628674739

    I recommend an acrylic spray paint. It dries quickly and doesn't smell too bad.

    I use a Phrozen Shuffle however any resin printer will work fine for making these chess pieces.

    Is there a danger the mineral spirit will damage the acrylic layer when you start sponging the wash off?

  • @conorokane

    @conorokane

    Жыл бұрын

    No, the acrylic paint doesn't react with mineral spirits. However you need to seal the oil paints with clear varnish if you want to paint with acrylics again over them.

    do they NEED supports in resin printing?

    These prints shouldn't, but over hangs and stuff will need supports.

    The files I provide for resin printing have the pieces tilted at a slight angle, to improve the print quality and prevent excess suction on the FEP sheet. They include pre-supported versions you can print right away, and unsupported versions if you like to do your own supports.
