How to Paddle for Whitewater Rafting - Tips for Rafting in Colorado

Спорт

At Wilderness Aware Rafting, we ensure that all of our clients are properly trained and prepared for whitewater rafting before heading out onto the river. We explain where and how to sit, how to hold the paddle, proper stroking and paddling techniques, and a wide range of other useful bits of rafting information.
The absolute basics of paddling entail 5 commands which every rafter needs to know. Moving forward, slowing down or moving backwards, left turns, right turns, and stopping. Seem simple enough, but trying to orchestrate these commands as a solid unit, with all the people in your group as a whole means that everyone has to be on the same page. Which can be difficult as there are often up to 7 people in a raft including the guide.
If you have one person working against the group, it can make the job for everyone else tremendously more difficult. Not only are you fighting the current of the river, but you would also be fighting the paddling of someone who isn't listening. But most people have an easy enough time of it even if small mistakes are made here and there.
Beyond these few basic commands, there are other tips and techniques which will be shown to you to ensure your trip is overall the best it could be! Come pay us a visit, and enjoy the trip of a lifetime!
