Friendly flight attendant here. The gate agents aren’t persnickety , technically these bags do count as a personal item and they are just doing their job. What I think many passengers don’t understand is that nearly EVERYTHING flight crew and gate agents do is regulated by the FAA , so when a passenger asks them to overlook their little extra bag they are now breaking a rule and can get in trouble for that. I get the rules are annoying but they’re also not a huge ask either and it really helps make these jobs less stressful if we just cooperate ! And pleeaaaase just don’t wear the bag on the plane when we are taking off and landing ! Flight crew is required to tell you to stow it.

I apologize. I made this video before it was common to wear sling bags on a plane. Now I just stow my in flight bag in my personal item during boarding/ takeoff rather than getting stopped right before boarding. I don’t like holding up the line. On a recent flight out of Orlando, I noticed that people with crossbody bags were being told to put them in their personal item, but shopping bags from them parks didn’t seem to “count”. Is there an exemption for shopping bags or was it just that crew?

Flight Attendant - Couldn’t agree with you more. Thank you (and your coworker’s) for enforcing the requirements we all agree to when purchasing our tickets.

As a flight attendant I absolutely love that you bring your own trash bag instead of shoving things in the seat back pocket or using a barf bag

Nice video! I would pack an extra trash bag for the flight home and two sets of medical gloves to use when you're wiping off the tray etc.

This is the best no frills collection i uave seen in a long time. So much so i am writing it down!

I keep so many of those things with me for travel - the grocery bag (mine is also flag folded), the hand sanitizer I bought is moisturizing, I always have wet wipes for traveling. I have a adapter so I only need to bring one type of headphones that works for both. I also use a travel wallet that's only what I need for the trip. We keep cough drops as a solution for the thing to suck on when dealing with air pressure for flying as well - and helps with the dry air. We always have tissues as well - they used to give them out when we lived in Japan (2013-14) because they would have adverts on them and we still have a few of those hanging around. We keep power cords that are used for travel only as well - then we never worry about replacing them around the house. I have hydrogen tablets now instead of those Nuun style (although I used to buy those) and always have extra vitamin c as well.

BTW when you buy a be set, it comes with three bags! So the small be set can be used to corral smaller things inside the large be set piece (And the medium be set used to be the perfect size for my kindle ereader)

I love this little bag but because it’s so deep, I’d think you’d have to pull everything out to get to stuff towards the bottom! I prefer a wider, not so deep bag.

In Australia we are only allowed one peice of luggage in the cabin with a maximum weight of 7 kilos. We are however allowed a checked bag.

100% agree there is no need to carry all your loyalty cards, gym card, extra credit cards etc. But DO NOT leave your health insurance card at home. No one plans to be injured or sick on vacation but it happens. As a nurse in a high tourist area, I can say never leave your insurance card at home.

I’ve never seen garbage bags. Barf bags maybe? I know some people use those for garbage. I never count on them being in the seatback

Please don't spray scent in the bathroom after you do your business. So many people have scent allergies and this will make them SICK! It's far better just to do your business and leave. Does it stink? Of course. But you won't make people sick from your perfumes and scents.

Thanks for your comment. Poopourri isn’t an air freshener. You spritz it directly into the toilet before you go and it traps the smell. It’s not a product that leaves a smell behind. Also, I looked it up and it doesn’t contain parabens, pthalates, aerosol, formaldehyde, petroleum distillates, ethanol or benzene. (Things that typically activate scent allergies)

FYI wet ones do not desinfect….waist of time

Imagine taking the time to leave an expert comment and then not bothering to spellcheck yourself. What a waste of time.

That gate agent is doing her job. It’s not an airplane policy it’s a federal policy, you know by the FAA. I does count as your personal item and need to be consolidated into another bag before you board. You’re just making the job of the agents and flight attendants job harder. The persnickety person is not the agent it’s YOU

Hi Mike, when I made this video, crossbody bags like this weren’t nearly as popular as they are now. I always recommend saving space in your actual personal item for your crossbody bag, and always comply with both the gate agents and flight crew, because like you said, they are just trying to do their job. I’ve actually stopped wearing crossbody bags for boarding because I don’t want to slow up traffic to step to the side and stow my bag, so I guess I need to make a new video🤷‍♀️
