Do they need sunlight in the frost free and dry place or may they be kept where there would be little to no light?

What's the proper way to store the plant over winter? Temp? Water? etc

When should I do this? I live in colorado and the snow has fallen twice already. I assume they are ready to be winterized. I think mine is a Mini Cascade and the flowers are EVERYWHERE. I sweep them up twice a day. I assume they are not growing back so I can start trimming now? I noticed some of the leaves are turning yellow. Is that because they had to much moisture? I am nervous not watering it. So I should stop watering once trimmed even though it feels dry?
