This video couldn't be more relevant and in right time for me .for context,i scored 99.64 (5773 rank) in mains ,98.2 percent in boards but amidst all the last preparations i made a single biggest mistake of my life which was forgetting to fill up jee adv registration form and when i realized i was not going to give the exam i prepared 2 years for ,i was in extreme shock and depression for a many days(i was trying to escape from this reality by playing too much videogames and all) but at last i have to accept the reality and move on.In jossa counseling im anticipating to get cse in maybe top 5th or 6th nit but the fact that if i would have given jee adv ,i would have got an decent around 5k rank and a good iit maybe still depresses me and make me unhappy.i have considered drop to be the last option but its highly unlikely i will take drop as everyone has advised me against it but lets wait and see what i get in counselling

Understand your situation and you are really mature for your age. If this is any consolation, Imy opinion is that you actually didn't miss much, except the IIT tag. Assuming you get +-1000 rank from your mains, your options would be electrical in the newest IIT without any IIT culture or even an own campus or a not very exciting branch in a second gen IIT. A top NIT CS is better than both. Good luck and cheers.

hello sir only you can help me I have been interested in physics for years and now I completed 12th but the problem is I am getting uncomfortable gut feeling in the field of academia, seriously i would love to be like you sir....A research professor in a research institute(its a dream job for me) but the statistics just feels distressing(12years of education after 12th seems a bit scary as I would to provide my so now i am thinking of mechanical engineering so that i can open my options for ISRO,BARC,DRDO but the problem is I am also worried I may regret the path not taken , all i now need is an assurance that academic path in mechanical engineering(and maybe ece ) also have exciting side to research as much as physics.................do you have any advice for me?

You can be a researcher even after studying Mechanical Engineering. That is what all Mechanical Engineering profs follow! And if you wish to go to industry that path will also be open for you.

Same here. I also opted IIT D mech with much the same intention. Although some people advised me against it but I chose mech over IIT KGP electrical because of my interest in aerospace and research. I think btech in aerospace will be quite niche. We can always pursue masters in aero after btech in mechanical. Being a core branch it also opens the door to The Engineering Services. So a win win situation. For research I am interested in Material science and engines(run by renewable energy). Let's see what the future beholds. Best of luck. And thank you JC sir. Sir, I want to say one thing about my state Kerala in case of these entrance. Here each and every child starts to know about this entrance only after class 12th,so dropping a year after 12th is a trend here.....only 1% students starts their preparation from class 11th itself...Another thing is everyone know about NEET and Calicut medical College is very famous here, but coming to JEE no one knows such entrance exist, no one know what is NIT,What is IIT and we don't have good coaching centers for this JEE entrance but NEET competition is very high here....even though NIT Calicut is a premier institute, keralites don't know its value because there are lot and lots of engineering college in Kerala...so they are not giving any value for engineering... That's why there is only 1, no less than 1 percent IITians from Kerala...I also prepared for JEE but Jan 27th shift hits hard and got only 97 percentile after scoring 204 marks... didn't got good rank in JEE Advanced ....so I think to take a double drop...please allow double droppers to write JEE Advanced..

Better avoid NIT AP core branch. If you're interested in mechanical engineering choose a better state college or better NIT. Lower nit will not have good profs and workshop required for ME. Else you can go for cs branches in any college as plenty of resources are available.

Admission system of IITs is defective. First admission should be in Engineering Science branch as available in IIT Hyderabad and Mand at presenti. After 2nd yr branch may be allotted as per grade/ choice of students.
