IRCTC offers a Vikalp scheme for waitlisted passengers as an option to provide confirmed berth in an alternate train. Once confirmed in alternate train, cancellation charges will be as per berth/train status in alternate trains. Vikalp can be opted only if your ticket is in Waitlist.
Follow these simple steps to opt for Vikalp
-- Open ConfirmTkt App.
-- Select your ticket from "Trips ".
-- Click on the "More" option which is given on the top right side of the ticket.
-- Click on "Vikalp option".
-- Select in which alternate train you want to travel.
-- After selecting the train click on the "Okay " button.
Things to remember --- After opting for Vikalp you have to check PNR Status every time
