I love this video. It worked for me despite the bottom was dirty and I thought I will never get it out. Nothing broke inside. I could replace the motor from another Aeroccino and now have a working one as good as new. Thank you.

I've got a more readily available solution! Thread long cable ties (aka zip ties) through the gaps and join each of the ties through a securely mounted eye screw/bolt and pull. Note the cable ties should be sub 4.8mm (3/16") width or you'll struggle to squeeze them through. If your ties are too short you'll need to string the together, but about 5" long is minimum length. The length of the joined ties should be approximately equal so the eyebolt is centre when you pull. Please comment below if you've had luck with this method or otherwise...

Worked a treat, reason is the circuit boards bad gradually build up corrosion so cleaning and adding solder restores connections... At first it looked like opening need a special tool to rotate but, of course then the button would be an issue, so yeah lifting it up as press fit made more sense, thanks Btw: Also worth sand papering in the inside of the plastic insert that stirs the milk as it can otherwise stick too easily, from the type of plastic and exposure to milk chemicals and heat I get the impression it can shrink a bit... I just used some coarse wood sand paper rolled into a tube - all good 🙂

Thanks for the simple instructions. In case you are having trouble with unit not turning on after re-assembly, might be push button. I took mine out prior to re-inserting base, then pushing it back in.

You're welcome. Yes, as you and others have found out, removing the button makes reassembly easier. I have updated the description to suggest that.

Stephanie, sorry I didn't create a tutorial on replacing the fuse. Your symptoms point to a fuse problem. If you have it open you can cut off the fuse and just short the wires together to test it (I do NOT recommend leaving it just shorted for regular operation since it is an overheat/fire safety feature). The thermal fuse is connected by blue wires and in the translucent tube. Just push the tube to one side and snip it off and connect the wire ends together. Attach the new fuse from the link I provided in the description to the blue wires put the tube back on top and position it in the area of the original fuse on top of the motor between the tabs there. There is enough room there to stand it up on the edge. As for whether the unit is operating the same way again I'm not 100% sure since I did not own the unit but I've received no complaints from my brother. I think it would work better since in an overheat condition the thermal fuse doesn't need to be replaced anymore since the replacement part should reset itself. floraclo, I did remove the button to make it go back together. The button deforms enough to just push back in once the base is back in.

Thank you for this video! I have a dead fuse problem, but the fuse I found inside my unit is a different type from the one you indicate in the description. You indicate an Elcut UMI 222R. I found an Elcut UMI 22XR which has a higher rated functioning temperature (133°C) than type 222R (115°C). I cannot find anywhere type 22XR. Do you think it would it be ok to use type 222R instead? Wouldn't it be too easy to blow up given the smaller rated functioning temperature? Thanks.

arus73 interesting that the manufacturer changed to a higher rated temperature fuse. If you blew the higher rated one as well then I would think the lower rated one would be more likely to blow more easily. A search for 133°C fuses on Amazon turned up some options I think would be suitable replacements for the Elcut one. Like this option www.amazon.com/Thermal-Fuse-Degrees-Celsius-Pack/dp/B00VS36OQW

The rated functioning temperature would be too high or this would be a better option as it would prevent easy cutoff of the new fuse?

arus73 I would have to find out about what kinds of plastics are used in this unit and their melting or effected temperatures. At fuse location to reach x°C for long enough for failure, what is the temperature of the surrounding area and components effected by that. Surely sustained higher temperatures would shorten life of the unit as a whole possibly leading to other failures not easily repairable or even fire. Do what you want at your own risk. +Rod Cameron The thermostat fuse once blown needs to be replaced. Just replace the component between the blue wires running over the motor with the part linked in the description.

...the video is super for OPENING it; I had to use a doubled-up spring-hook (2 parallel in each hole) to pry the base open. The motor starts for 1/2 second and stops; red light on, heater element heats etc. Mine instead of a 5x20 glass fuse has a thermoelement pushed by a spring against the heated bottom; goes to a common relay (which eventually revives after overheating is over). The motor is/was the problem... A hunch told me to follow one guy's rec and REVERSE POLARITY - et voilà! I pryed off the plastic guide om the PCB, making reversal easy. Still, quite disappointing for a high-priced item - why should the consumer deal with bad tech design and/or component quality?

My red light does go on but starts blinking in a few seconds. Therefore, I'm thinking mine is not a fuse problem as it wouldn't go on at all it if was. Any ideas?

+Sheryl Souza It's the thermostat...Nespresso will replace under warranty as they had a bad batch with thermostats that keep tripping the heating element

+Sheryl Souza Sounds like the bad motor problem to me if the light still comes on. The reverse motor trick might apply. If it's still in warranty or Nespresso will fix it under good will then have them do it.

Why are you opening it? Call nespresso they will send you a replacement.

Definitely have it repaired/replaced under warranty if that's an option for you.
