If you find a credit card, or whatever piece of plastic you're using is too thick to fit into the handle gap, try cutting up a plastic bottle or even a very thin piece of cardboard from some packaging should do the job. My bathroom window wouldn't open and the room is so hot. The gap behind the handle was extremely narrow and a credit card was too thick. Used your tip about a thin piece of plastic that I cut from the cover of a notebook. Got the window open in 5 seconds. Thank you so much. I'm incredibly grateful.

This piece just saved me some pounds. For more than 2 weeks, the 2 kitchen windows just got stuck amidst the terrible heat period of this summer thereby pushing some house flies and the heat from the kitchen to the main lounge and bedrooms. We were just about getting a house fix man b4 I decided to come to KZread and this video popped up on the search. So amazing and seamless. Not only have you helped me open my window, but I have now gone found my rental flat and found most of the windows don't even have the lock mechanisms on them, as they obviously broke with previous tenant/s, and must have fallen out or been broken. That’s a great solution! Thank you. I was stuck trying to open the blasted window and now it’s sorted thanks to you. What I did after is that I cut off that black nipple that caused the problem and now it’s absolutely fine. You can’t lock the window now but I live on the third floor of a block of flats so it’s not a problem. Cheers pal.

thank you for explaining the mechanism behind it!! i've searched for other videos and they dont do this, so I spent ages with a small card trying to find the right spot, but with your explaination i found it within a minute!

Absolutely Fantastic. Took me 15 minutes to work it out but i used the bottom sharp end of a a tooth floss stick. In my case the gap was too small so had go with something smaller. Had to go in at a 45 degree angle. First it moved about 20 degrees and then i closed it again by accident. Broke that tooth floss pick. Got a new one, went at 45 degree angle and the whole thing twisted in one go. The key here is the angle at which you approach it. If you get it right, it will swing all the way instantly. Now time to find a replacement . Thank you very much.

Genius, just what Ive been looking for, bought a new handle but then found i cant get to the screws, and ive got an old credit card to try it with. I also like your investigation to inspect the same handle type on another window to work out how to insert the credit card. Thats double clever. Thanks for sharing.

I’ve seen this hack on another site and couldn’t get it to work but when you showed the mechanism I could see it was a wedge and I needed to approach it from a specific direction. Problem solved thanks to you and a Tesco Clubcard key fob.
