one other tip i can say to everyone else: stop putting all you weight into the slide! if you’re like me, youve been trying to do this for years and all the tutorials youve watched have had you keep weight on the board. what you really need to practice is just straight up jumping. try and jump at least a few inches off the board and do the light flick like this video shows. there should be nearly no weight on the board because you are still moving up. your front foot will naturally slide up the board and thats what will raise it up. this helped alot, great vid man!

For all the beginners in the comments here, the only way to learn ollies is trial and error video tape yourself in slow-mo and see what you are doing wrong. Once you start getting your board off the ground you will get the feel and muscle memory and it will become a lot easier the understand the ergonomics of it.

one quick thing for those learning that COMPLETELY changed my ollies. once youre somewhat getting it down but just feel like youre not getting enough height. try to focus on SNAPPING your foot down when you hit your tail. like youre trying to tap the ground with your toes. try to use that motion when popping the tail, your board should act like it wants to go vertical almost. Good luck

This is an underrated tutorial. I hate the tutorials that say "pop, slide, jump" sequence, and Braille always preaches that. I think they do it so that when skaters fail following those tutorials they will more than likely purchase Skateboarding Made Simple. My ollies look like pretty much the first one where you don't slide your front foot, and I can get that kind of height. I need to work on knowing how to slide it and more importantly when cuz it feels like there's a damn wall between the bolts and the tail that my front foot doesn't want to get past, lol thanks for the tutorial!
