Excellent tutorial. I bought a new pair of clippers to do my son's hair and in the directions it just said "Oil the clippers" without any instructions on how to do so. You explained things beautifully. Thank you so much.

Thank you! Makes sense to me, basically what I needed to know about where to apply oil and how much to use. Can’t visit my hairdresser so just bought myself a nice hair trimmer and sheared off all my thick hair. Very functional but looks and feels good, ready for summer. And when it grows too long again I will shear it off again. My trimmer won’t be used very often, but still needs correct maintenance. You men aren’t the only ones in a predicament right now!

Great advice right up to the oiling part! It is just as important to oil the back rail as it is the front. It is metal to metal, just the same and any heat generated here will transmit to the front.

Amazing explanation on why its necessary to oil blades and good explanation on how to do it. I find the entrepreneur speech and "learning how to market myself" speech in videos like this suspect at best, it makes a lot of viewers feel like a number. This guy did a fantastic job in the video though, well done.

Clipper oil makes the best oil to lubricate pistols and rifles too. Heres a tip to sharpen your clipper blades. Get yourself a bag or container of GRITS or Corn Meal, pour a few tablespoons of it into a bowl, and turn on your clippers and while its on and running just put your clipper blades into the Grits and push some of the grits into the running blades. The Clippers will turn some of the grits into a fine powder, and thats ok...let it run in the grits for a few minutes, the grits act as an abrasive on the metal blades and it will sharpen the blades without damage, and spray off your blades after turning it off with clipper spray, and oil the blades, and your blades will be as sharpened as the day you bought it.

7:57 If you're using it for home use... I'd say, before every use. Not just after. Since you probably want the oil freshly applied. Rather than oil oil from last time you used it. Or you could oil before AND after, but that seems like overkill and rather pointless for occasional home use. Unless you're a barber and there's no real difference between "before" and "after", since it's mainly all just "in between".

Gotta think of it like a car you’d never let your transmission run with no fluid lubricating the metal parts

Hi larry, this video was very helpful. Quick question, if i use the T-outliner on just myself, how often do i need to clean and oil the blade?

Adam Shalashaska when the blades look dry and do not have oil - the cleaner the blades the better the performance

Can I use sunflower oil? The viscosity is higher and also a little lower than olive oil.
