    I’ve used snipers to take out an entire wood line of antitank and anti air which completely changed that game for me and caused me to squeak out a minor victory when I otherwise would have lost. They were hidden behind enemy lines after I got pushed and they got to pick off tons of troops as they moved through fields they thought were secure in their own territory.

    Yeah, using them behind the lines is often overlooked by new players and they miss out on the most powerful aspect of that tab

    I just won my first game against very easy AI using 78. Sturm. It wasn't ideal but I got to see how things play out. That deck was old but it was cool to see how much Eugen can do while still keeping things simple enough for new players. Huge win for not having janky controls in this game. I like that SD2 is fun right away. Simple menus disguise the complexity. I think it's possible to just play the tutorial and skirmish the AI right away. One of the few deep strategy games I've picked up and not felt overwhelmed by information despite how complex the game's mechanics are. Very clean and polished feeling, and it runs on a lot of machines. It looks modern. Steel Division 2 is easier to get _into_ than most people think. I think there's tons of fun even in Solo. Looking forward to trying out MP. The most fun seems to be in watching your skill level grow. The community was really nice. I asked in chat for some beginner divisions and 3 people gave me some ideas for divisions to practice with. Within like 30 seconds I had tons of new knowledge. Was worried this game would take a huge time investment to learn, but the game teaches you what works and what doesn't through trial and error. It's nice they let noobs have fun too lol

    Man, I forgot which division ist was. I remember it to be a Finnish unit though. A "Sissi", a Sniper team. 7 men, Sniper, GPMG (1000m reach WHILE MOVING), rifles and smoke. I love to take them in my loadout. I use them as Escort for my "City Cleaners" They are awesome for suppressing and softening up enemies while my flamethrowers run towards the next building to do their work. Plus, they can wreak havoc in enemy territory. They can hold infantry off and if they have some supplies nearby, they can pin several enemies down all day just by themselves! Support them with some hidden recon-CQC to prevent infantry from getting to close, and the city is under lockdown until your main forces arrive... Getting counter-sniped? Pop a smoke and relocate! And unless the enemy has recon too, armored vehicles can do s...t to them, because of the Stealth/Optics/Cover mechanics. Even this "big" 7-man team has exceptional stealth after all! If I'm not mistaken, then this unit is the ONLY card of infantry with a added 1000m - MG in the game. Amazingly strong for a simple Recon unit!

    I bought this 48 hours ago and I've put 27 hours into it. I'm absolutely awful and can't beat the AI past Medium but it's so much fun. I need to learn A LOT when it comes to troops. I kinda just throw them wherever to hold the line

    Well, fighting AI at harder difficulties is mostly about letting them smash against your defenses before you gather enough points to have the troops for a push. I don't know if this is representative of 10v10 with human players. I wouldn't think so. My suggestion is: if you can beat AI on medium/hard, go for multiplayer. There's diminishing returns to your experience vs AI. You'll suck at first, but that's ok. Maybe even announce that you're a noob, and try to help out another player.

    Still learning about the decks. These videos have helped out greatly. One question: At 13:15 in the video why is your "C" card in every category almost non existent?

  • @atkpwrgaming

    @atkpwrgaming

    2 жыл бұрын

    Because you need a lot more A and B cards to survive. A few C cards is plenty because they give you so much per card. The thing is if you run out of stuff or options before C phase you probably lose before you can ever deploy all of those anyways.

    As a player coming from wargame (by no means am I an expert) I feel like I tend to put recon either right behind the front or on flanks to hide and spot units and it doesn't seem nearly as effective as in that game. I never considered using recon offensively to disrupt backlines but that actually makes so much sense, especially with how some of the squads are kitted out. Should I do a mix of the two? Or just use recon more aggressively?Thanks for sharing!

  • @atkpwrgaming

    @atkpwrgaming

    Жыл бұрын

    You do want to mix. Some recon units are quite powerful and should be used aggressively to get the maximum value out of them. otherwise they aren't actually worth having. Other units such as aufklarers are only for spotting and recon work and serve very little purpose behind the enemy lines

    Are big guns(not spgs, towed guns) worth it? I find myself having to move them constantly from counter battery, but they’re so slow they take massive casualties. I find more success with mortars, but the limited range makes them ineffective in counter battery against enemy artillery.

  • @atkpwrgaming

    @atkpwrgaming

    Big guns are definitely worth considering. They are intensive to use, you have to be ready to be giving them fire orders all the time, but due to their price and power, a card should always be considered

  • @McMonkeyful

    I disagree about the 2-man recon teams. I often omit them due to powerful options (Razvedka/Snipers/Abwehr/Marauders/SPW) but if there's nothing exciting available, I find these guys have one big advantage: Concealment (ok two, concealment & price). With 100m range SMG they're not giving away their position & dying, so with careful placement they can be my eyes for an entire battle. No need to micro the return fire. They just sit hidden & let me know what's happening. The Arty observers are even better if the arty tab is lacking or has lots of cheap activation point slots. With more offensive recon, the chances of them all dying in combat & leaving me relying on infantry alone is far higher. Of course, there are no right & wrong answers. Just my alternative opinion ;)

  • @atkpwrgaming

    @atkpwrgaming

    2 жыл бұрын

    Totally get you! I should say I dont think they are bad, they are just on the bottom of the list when there are alternatives to choose. Its likely I dont use my recon enough myself which may contribute to my bias haha

    Wow you don't use two recon men ? At double vet you get 4. Double vet recon see literally everything hidden in forest so obviously very useful. If I lack recon tab I'll get them unvetted for 8 availability but I usually try to double vet them.

  • @atkpwrgaming

    Does double vetting actually help their optics? I didn’t think it did. It definitely doesn’t show in the stats. And a double vetted tank doesn’t see any better than a no vet tank
