In Britain, tea is common, but if you dont like it it dont matter ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As an American the “tip culture” has gotten out of hand. Companies need to give their employees more pay and stop making your customers feel uncomfortable about how much of a tip they leave. I’m 50 and I used to be a big tipper but everyone wants a tip now and they expect more than the typical 15%. I barely leave a tip anymore unless I received exceptional service. That’s why it’s called gratuity.

What sucks is that between two strangers or not overly familiar people, it's really hard to keep a conversation going. For example, i can't talk to my sister for too long since I'm more of a financial/business student type, and she'd more into fashion and trends. We can't talk more than 2 minutes before going our own ways. For me at least, informing myself of other topics is boring and i can't seem to remember much.

People question why they don’t tip in Japan but the real reason is: 1. They are paid normally and tips aren’t their main income. 2. In Japan it is respectful and expected that if you are giving cash to someone to put it in an envelope

I saw someone do it in a cafe, but he got refused and told by the litteral owner that they don't accept tips. If you really REALLY want to tip then just, try and keep it in an envelope and hope they accept it. But never force it on them cause then it becomes rude.
@GuinessOriginal

In the us you have to tip because waitresses don’t get paid enough to live on because in the us it’s ok to pay people a pittance so they have to rely on the generosity of others to survive. In Japan they get paid a living wage and don’t need or want charity.
