So why would you want to move from blogger to Wordpress?
Well the biggest reason is because of the flexibility and customization that WordPress has to offer. Wordpress comes with over 50,000 plugins that allow you to have infinite control over the functionality of your website.
To move this site to wordpress, we're going to take 4 steps:
1. Take our Blogger site and save it into a file
2. Install wordpress to a new site
3. Upload that blogger file into wordpress to display our site.
4. The redirect your old links to the new site.
Step #1. Save Your Blogger Site into a File
So just go over to blogger, and make sure you have the correct blog selected (at the top left)
Then go to settings - Other - Backup Content - Save to your computer
Step #2. Install WordPress to a new site
Okay so to install wordpress to a new site, we'll need to do 3 things:
1. Get Web Hosting
Web hosting is where you store all of your website files. It also provides you with 24/7 customer support in case your website were to ever go down. Web hosting is 100% necessary if you want to own your own professional website.
2. Get a custom domain name
3. Install WordPress on that new domain
So first, lets get web hosting. To do this, just click: createaprowebsite.com/hosting
And I do get a commission when you use that link, but it also saves you a lot of money!
Click on “Baby Plan”.
And now you can choose a new domain name. And don’t forget to get domain privacy protection!
Then just fill out the rest of your information and checkout.
Step #3 Upload Our Blogger File Into WordPress
So to do this, just go to Tools - Import
"Install Now" Underneath Blogger - Then "Run Importer"
Choose File - Upload File and Import - Submit
How to Change Your Theme:
Go back to wordpress dashboard - Themes - Add New
Type “Astra” into the search bar then Install - Activate
And if you'd like to edit the header, such as the logo, menu, and overall style... you can just click on the "customize" button.
Step #4 Redirect Your Old Blogger Links
So to do this, first we need to tell wordpress to match our new website links with the old blogger links.
Wordpress dashboard - settings - change timezone (CDT) - Save
Permalinks (on the Left) - Month and Name (because this is same the format that blogger uses and we need them to be the same)
Save changes
So now that we've got all of our settings matching, we need to install a plugin that will actually redirect the links.
Plugins - Add New
Search for "Blogger to Wordpress" (Make sure it’s by rtCamp)
Install - Activate
Next, go to Tools - Blogger to WordPress Redirection
Start configuration
Click "Get Code" next to the correct blogger site
Copy the code
Go back to Blogger, then go to Theme
Click the 3 little dots next to your current them - Edit HTML
Select everything in this HTML box, and delete it.
Paste new code - Save
Alright now all your old links should be redirected.
And you’re all set!

This is thorough and helpful. I do have one question that I hope someone can answer. I am transferring from Blogger to WordPress, and my Blogger site has a custom dot come address. Are there any additional steps I need to take to ensure a smooth transition?
Hi, i just took the steps and i am very happy. You are very good and very clear. I'm Italina but I haven't had any problems. Thank you so much.
Thanks for this. Do you know how to set up the redirects from blogger if you've changed the url structure of your new website? Thanks

Thank you Dale. The process was very easy. I used the Host Gator Link link you povided and even though a few of the pages changed in the process, your instructions were clear and concise. I do have a question. I have another site with a custom domain on Blogger. Is that process substantially different because of the customer domain? Thanks again!
You made this soo easy! But I’m still really nervous to do this. What if I paid for a domain name on blogger, but I don’t have the webhosting?
Thank you Dale great content 💯👍but if you go to timestamp 16;00 I don't see the 3 dots on my computer?

Thanks for your informative video. How do I move the images from Blogger to Wordpress media library. The posts refers to blogger for images. Will Blogger keep these files after doing a redirect? I'm thinking of leaving the old Blogger as it is and putting a final post saying we have moved to a new domain...
Thanks for this easy to follow video. What happens next? I want to add a post to my blogger or edit an old one, but will this automatically change on my website?
Very clear explanation and demo. I have the same questions as asked below, but none have been answered. Do you have the answers in another video? Thanks.
thank you so much for the video. one quick question though: 🔥🔥 what to do if you already have a custome domain name attached to blogger, and how would you move it to wordpress.thanks in advance🔥🔥
This is really great news as I do have a Blogger account. Currently I am working on a website for myself with WP on Bluehost, your course have been so helpful, many thanks! Now I am at the later stage of building up my website, using theme OceanWP following your course “how to make a WP Website with Elementor” and also “How to make a WP website 2020 for beginners”. Almost at the end stage now, but I’ve got lost in how to put on my blog articles (in English), as it is one homepage with jump up bottom....My questions: 1. do you have a course to specially help the bloggers? 2. I used theme Ashes to start and then changed to OceanWP, however it seems the setting of Ashes always stays on my blog page! How to get rid of it? 3. in the case that I move my Blogger articles (in another language) onto my new WP website, is it possible by simply adding a new page? 4. I haven’t done the last step to publish my blog yet, whilst my website can be reached already online, is it normal? BTW, I don’t see any “ new website coming soon” on my screen... Thank you very much!
Thanks for posting this tutorial. My question is about Blogger redirection. At 15:34 I notice I see my customized domain name at that point because before i started this process i had my customized domain linked to my blogspot site. So I think that may be my issue because I follow the steps but the redirection is not working. Hope you can help and respond

That was great. Very helpful BUT... I am missing things from my Blogger layout such as "Archives" on my new WP Astra template. Yours show but not mine. Do I need to further edit the template layout? How do I get rid of the "Sample page" in the top right corner? Please point me in the right direction :)
nice.
I went through exactly what you said and signed on for a month but I was charged for the domain name $17.00 (which I thought was fee) and for HOSTING ADDONS OF $38.83 which brought the charges for one month to $76.16 instead of the $27.61 shown in your video. What's up?
You're just magnificent. Blessings

Hey! This was a great tutorial, but I have 1 question - is it required to change the permalink structure on WordPress to redirect the links? I am migrating from Blogger to an existing Wordpress site with existing articles, so I don't really want to change the current permalink structure if I don't have to. Thanks

Hi how move only the script from blogger to wordpress
What happen to my Adsense approval in blogger if I change to WordPress?
A few questions. (1) this moves posts and comments but not pages, right? Do pages have to be moved manually? (2) if you're switching to WordPress *AND* moving the domain (to point) from blogger to wordpress, do you have to install that code snippet on your old blogger site? Will permalinks just work by changing the format as shown in the video if you're going to point to wordpress with the same domain that pointed to blogger?

@@harshalgovindpatil1679 I completed the move successfully, but it did take some work. Let me answer my own questions and then yours. (1) pages are not moved, just posts, so yes, pages have to be moved manually; (2) you don’t need to install the code snippet on your old blogger site if your domain moves *and* if you don’t care about the xyzblogspot dot com domain redirecting to your new site; and yes, permalinks to posts (not pages) should “just work” but some won’t. The ones that won’t are when Blogger used a shortened, truncated form of the title instead of the full title when creating the slug. So, to answer your question. Be sure to query your sitemap before you make the switch. Then click on your sitemap links 1 by 1 when you’re all setup on WordPress and you’ll discover the permalinks that don’t work. Inspect them and you’ll likely see that either they are (1) to pages, not posts, or (2) the slug was shortened by Blogger and WordPress doesn’t shorten it. To fix these you need to edit the slug for the post to match what Blogger used. To fix the permalinks to pages. First create the page in WordPress and set the slug; it helps to maintain the same slug name from Blogger but it’s not necessary. Then you can use PHP within specific path matching directories to manually redirect to that new page. Also, you’ll need to configure WordPress to ignore the .html parts of URLs. Here are some references that should help: 1. To redirect create a default.php and use as the only line in that file where URL is the location to redirect to. In Blogger, pages are under domain/p/pagename.html so you’d drop that default.php in a /p/pagename directory. 2. Use a plugin (e.g. WP Htaccess Editor) to modify the .htaccess file with the following rewrite rule to drop .html from URLs that come in (e.g. Blogger permalinks to pages). # Fix blogger permalinks which end in .html RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} \.html RewriteRule ^(.*)\.html$ /$1 [R=301,L] See this for more information: wordpress.org/support/topic/how-to-redirect-html-to/ Ok, I hope this helps you out. Working through your old sitemap and applying what’s above should get you all fixed up.

@@KayakFishingAddict thank you for reply. I have some doubt .if I delet or ignore html Part then it will affect on seo also and some link works in dekstop version...but in mobile there is no single post link is worked. Do you have any solution for this.. please guide 🥺
@KayakFishingAddict
2 жыл бұрын
@@harshalgovindpatil1679 I don’t think there’ll be any SEO impact; either way, WordPress works without the .html extension. I’d look at your theme if it’s rendering fine on desktop but not on mobile. My guess is that your theme is doing something weird with the page on mobile. Another way is to load the page in Chrome on desktop and then use the debug tools (F12) to inspect/view the page on different phone screens to figure out how the theme is rendering it on mobile devices.
