Just so you know California and the Bay Area, San Francisco, Sacramento and San Jose areas are extremely super Liberal and Democrat a Blue State and the cost of living for a basic studio apartment 500 - 550 sq ft. will run you $2500 if your lucky traffic is F ing horrible that's why next year I'm moving out California.

Interesting perspective. I also just moved from NYC to CA in September. As I have/had a fantasy to convert a (camper)van also, I bought a van in NYC and simply filled it and drove to CA. So now I'm in CA with *some* of my stuff (hence the interest in transporting the rest of it) and a van :) Street parking in NYC you can do for a few days if you get the timing right. I did chronicle the journey on my channel but haven't edited it down to a watchable length yet - maybe in the future. For now only those truly interested or fascinated by the drive across country will watch ...

Wow, it’s more than double that cost now. Moving from California to Alabama. Fuel cost is probably most of it.

You should mention that, with the UBox...if you load the box at their facility, and unload at their facility, there's no charge. But if you elect for that, then it's your responsibility to get your stuff to the box, and then out of the box.

Dang, Uhaul is quoting me almost 5k for WA to the panhandle of Florida. That’s crazy. I think Amtrak shipping is the cheapest. Thank you for the video.

Hey there.. Just know that AMTRAK is stopping the express shipping as of Oct 2020.. Unless you go in person, they may tell u different. Research.

Mileage is where they get you. I got quotes from just about all companies for a container/box from San Diego to Daytona, and all were $3000+ because of distance.

nope! you still need to secure items and pack them well but nothing broke

for me it wasn't that interesting but I think it depends. it's a lot of rules and things you have to follow for evidence to be admissible etc.

I know it’s an old video but do you recall how many boxes you had? I’m planning on using U-box from NYC to AZ, quote is $1,800 and I’m almost certain 1 pod will be enough but just curious how much you were able to fit.

I tried to look at the video clip I took and I can't count for sure but maybe 15 boxes? Most were the medium sized boxes but some were larger and others odd sized.

I’m moving back to the Bay Area from Indiana and this time I’m driving my Toyota Corolla so I plan on shipping out boxes of clothes. How did you ship so cheap? Last time I shipped clothes I think each box was like $150. Is it cheaper to have it shipped to a fedex store?

I’m not sure! Maybe. It was also back in 2016 so maybe prices were cheaper.

no permit, as long as you can park a car on the side walk or parking space it was fine to leave the ubox there. it only sat there for 24 hours so it wasn't that long. not sure if you would need something more if it's there longer.

It has been 2 years haha. It could also be based on distance since driving from WA to MA is a little further than CA to NY.

I'm looking to move from San Diego to Daytona Beach, FL. I have mostly clothes and shoes in boxes. Planning to sale TV and fridge. Does FedEx have a limit on weight of box and size?

I'm not sure...I think there may be different boxes that are one price regardless of weight but there are other boxes that are by the weight. However, I'm not positive, best to check with FedEx!

Not clear how many uhaul boxed did you have? And if just 1 as it was studio apt you mentioned it was more than $3000 to move it from new York to CA??? That's insane price for just this tiny woden box :(

we only had 1 uhaul box! it costs a lot because they have to drive it across the country.

hi, does the u-box secured with the wet weather? I saw the orange plastic around it, just wonder if it's safe in the raining time......:)

yes the orang shield helps with rain but I think if it is constantly pouring rain it might get inside a bit.

that's tough. I think they both have their different pros and cons but in the end, I still like California better (more space, better weather etc.).

If I did not work in the stock market, I would live in California. With the 3 hour time difference, it's not practical for me.

I did the fed ex option from oak to nyc my stuff arrived fine.

it depends how large your couch is but it would probably fit if not floor wise you can put it upright and it should be fine.

Make sure that the company has a local address and information about licensing and insurance. Their employees should answer the phone with the full name of the business. Read online ratings of the company. Read the reviews of the previous customers. This will ensure a better moving experience. Anyways, read the below. yup! it will not leave as much space for other items (since we had a full size) but it will definitely fit.

Suggest just bring mattress! I got a kind mattress, queen one, couch, and 20 boxes but it was def over the weight lol

Worse experience ever!!!! Initially it seemed ok...until they had to deliver it to the destination and that is when the issues arose....lies, being bounced around only to find out that my Uboxes would not be delivered ON TIME and the date that I chose. I would not do it again. Their system to leave instructions is an absolute disaster. Do not trust them at all. Do not do this online if you are still going to do it. I left instructions so many times online and it just would not take. I finally had to email the uhaul service email and they verbalized over email they had the instructions. They date approaches and I send them more instructions and picture and when they date arrives: well we tried to contact you to schedule it and you didn't answer. Absolute BS/Lies/Dishonest. Then they bounce me that day on more than 5 calls that take me hours of my day and all giving me the wrong information only to be told that they are storing my uboxes until July 5th.
