An exciting activity that is difficult to refuse. And very useful for everyone, man, nature, bees.

I just relocated my first swarm a few days ago. I was amazed! Caught them in a double nuc with 5 frames of foundation. In 1 week, they had drawn out 4 frames, plus built from the bottom of the frames to the bottom board on all four!

Thanks for watching. They are truly amazing! I just walked outside this morning to find two swarms: A large one is clustered outside a swarm trap (hope they go inside) and a small one is in a tree right next to my apiary. I get surprised every day.

Your frames are too short for your swarm box, you should only have bee space under the frames

How many of you have had success with lemongrass oil and beesewax in your swarm traps? Im picking up some swarm commander tommorrow if my local shop has any, but if not lemongrass oil it is. Whats your experience been?

Great video. Sir can you please answer this questions for me : 1. Won't the sugar syrup soak up everything in the hive and eventually make the hive inhabitable for the brood and bees. 2. Why did you have to transfer the swarm to a smaller size nuc box when you said the forty litres box is what they prefer or want.

Hi, when you turn the jar over, a suction is created that keeps the liquid from dripping out. The bees can stick their tongues into the holes to drink though. Forty liters is the cavity size they prefer but if the colony is small, that is a lot of space to defend. It is better to put them into a smaller box and later give them more boxes as they expand. Thank you for watching.

What did you squirt onto the black square you opened?

Hi Pocket Spill, Thanks for watching and commenting. Those black squares are Beetle Barns for Small Hive Beetles and in them I use Combat Max roach killing gel syringes from Walmart.

I was thinking of painting mine with leaf designs like you did with the fern fronds. Now I'm going to. It breaks up the box pattern. There are no straight lines in nature.

Personally I would never use the term "trap" to me this has negative cannotations to it. And since you are not harming the bees in any way I prefer to call it a swarm lure or a bait hive.
