🔹//DESCRIPTION\\
In this video, Jay is replacing the toilet in his bathroom to make room for a new double vanity for his two teenage kids. The process involves moving the toilet's plumbing and cutting into the floor, which is outside of Jay's comfort zone as a non-plumber. He navigates challenges like determining the pipe layout and modifying the subfloor to get the toilet in the right position. After some trial and error, he is able to successfully install the new toilet. The Jay is relieved to have this part done, but still has more work ahead to get the new vanity installed. Overall, it's a DIY home improvement project with some plumbing complexities.

Canadian plumber here, looks like you did a pretty good job Jason. Only thing about the sealant around the toilet is to leave a gap at the back so you can know if your wax seal starts to leak before it fills your floor/ceiling full of water.

I've always just opted to not put a sealant around the toilet but ill consider this method. Don't see why it still wouldn't work
@Beandiptheredneck
4 күн бұрын
@Crustycheese94 it has its purpose, I once did a bathroom for a European couple, they wanted the whole thing minus the ceiling tiled so it could be a wet room, the shower had no walls. I siliconed that toilet down. I've also used it when the toilet doesn't want to stay put to hold it in place
Proud of Jay, I knew you could do it.
“maybe i can get a better job if i put my foot through the ceiling”. im dead - i hope Erik watches this lol!

Maybe a 48-52 in double vanity or custom furniture with smaller sinks but still got er done👍
Great job jay! I hope a huge dump will make it through that 90 degree angle. Great job!
Hi Jay, it's always a great day when post a video. I have been following your KZread channel from the start and you are getting better and better at recording. I am so looking forward to the next installment in the kids bathroom. Bathrooms can be a nightmare if you are relocating the units especially the toilet but you made it look easy. I see you on the next one. Stay safe J.

Good job on the toilet and handling the plumbing in the floor. When you do the vanity I’d rather see ya open the drywall that will be behind the vanity and make plumbing changes in the wall. Esp if the vanity is not wide open side to side. Maybe even move the toilet supply line over too?

Being a mechanical engineer I have developed my home diy skills to the point where planning negates problems. I still find some things puzzling but I've got by. You'll be fine Jay, regards to the family 👍
Glad you checked the final height including the finish. When I refurb'd my bathroom I had to include the thickness of: floorboards - concrete backerboard - cement for underfoor heating - heating wire - tile cement and finally tiles, all while smelling the odor of a 100 years worth of p*ss and sh*t through the pipe work.... Most UK toilet waste systems go through the wall and you can gain abit of wiggle room using a 'flexy-pipe'.
I think you did a real good job. Plumbing is scary but it looks good from my house. And frankly, the work you did to support the subfloor is probably better than what most plumbers do lol

My boss here in Indiana was able to reduce his property tax assessment by showing the assessor that his double vanity was connected to one drain and one set of feeds. As such it only counted as one sink for tax purposes instead of two. Not sure how it works where you are.

My mistake that is not a bigl deal, the flange is supposed to be flush with floor height. Just make sure you have a good seal whatever the height.
@Building_Jays_Way
3 күн бұрын
I was under the impression that the flange should sit just above the floor height?
@michaelmiller1109
3 күн бұрын
@@Building_Jays_Way That was my thought as well, but when I set my toilet I had to shim it up because the flange was too high. I used one of those silicon/rubber rings instead of a wax ring because I knew I wasn’t going to get a perfectly level surface that I feared would create an issue in making a wax ring set correctly.
I think the cause for Jay to forgot that measurement was the inhalation of sewer gases!!!!
