Starting fluid works great. Use to use that trick way back in the day when I worked for a full service gas station.
I used a ratchet strap works great
Another tip: remove the valve core when seating the bead. Makes getting the initial seal much easier.

James Xikis Unfortunately many air chucks won't open with the core removed, but if you have one that will that works great!

Probably worth finding one if you do this. I only do dirtbike tires with tubes or Tubliss. However, I have a clamp on air chuck from a really cheap something or other that would work without the valve core.

A blower also works well
Old episode just popped up on me. Wow! Been watching for about 3 years so never seen this one. Really cool to see how far you guys have come!! Just like Mario never for get where you came from!!!
Great video. Tough tire - you guys are the pros and it is still difficult. I like the decal of the girl on the refrigerator.

Thanks Paul! It was a doozie trying to expand that tire onto the 8 inch rim!
Best tip I have seen is that the threads on a blow gun are the same threads as the valve stem. When seating tires on the bead, remove the valve core, screw the gun on, soap the beads and hit it with the blow gun. You will be amazed how easily they seat.
Never use a petroleum product to lubricate rubber. It will cause premature decomposition. Use soap instead.
Dang that fridge is an oldie I noticed it in the new shop very very custom piccaso I like it
I love that sticker on the fridge!
4:11 I died when I saw that pic on the fridge XD
When the tire is on the wheel loose when setting the bead. Shove the tire down to get the bottom bead started, then gently lift up on the tread to bring the top bead to the wheel. Pro tip. Hunnerd-n-10!
Putting some new tires on my talon and had to reference back to this video. Crazy to see how far these guys have come. Good work boys!

I have to mount up a 32" terrabite for a spare on my talon, hoping to do it myself instead of paying someone.

@@sjsmith801 they are a pain. 8 ply tires without a tire machine are pretty tough. I just drop them off at a tire shop now.
Thanks for the reply next trick is to squirter starter fluid into it and throw a match at it. NOT inside. Works - even on stiff truck tires - that's a decent quick squirt or you blow the tire up! there are KZread video of it - and the strap would come in handy to keep the center from expanding out and thus force the sidewalls up. works really well in the field also, as it'll be the only way to get the tire back on.
Dude... you guys have come SO far haha
Good job .also I like your rc trucks
Real good info, never thought about getting a manual tire machine. But some suggestions, water mixed with some dawn soap is cheaper then we 40, also a com-along and taking the valve step vale apart and blasting it will work better

even removing valve core can help
Nice job guys!👍🏻
LOL, I like Nick's "uniform"! ;)
Nice fridge.
Must be nice to mount a tire all by hand that easily lol. Never had one that didn't need a ton of muscle and several tire spoons. Of course different tires will be stiffer or softer. I have to do a set for an old Honda quad this week and just breaking the bead will be rough as the tires are original from 1986. Will try the board and truck method and hope it goes easy. Also don't have a fancy stand so doing it on the ground with regular spoons. Wish me luck lol.
I just found a reason to keep my 7 gallon portable air tank around. Cheetah rules.
Helps to bolt down your tire machine too.
Very slick
where did you end up finding 10" rear wheel? wanting to do skats on my YXZ, and having a hard time finding 10's. love the videos. keep up the good work. maybe see you guys on the dunes and trails this summer!

Definitely something you'd want to do with brand new rims and $400/tire paddles.

SXSBlog.com Honestly never ruined a single tire or rim. The fire goes out almost instantly. Just came back from Hatfield and replaced a tire on an X3 up on the mountain.

I use gas
cargo ratchet straps work good to seat the bead . but let the air out before trying to release the strap
Put a tube in tires that are way away from rim. Then air up to seat beads. Deflate and only break one bead. Remove tube, then you can pull up against seated bead to help seat opposite bead .
LET ME TELL YA ABOUT THE GOOD OL Daaaaays
why you don't put those sand grippers on the front also?
@SXSBlog
7 жыл бұрын
It would simply take too much power to turn them and bog the machine down. The sand really robs a lot of power so a lightweight tire combination that is easy to turn is key.
Put a ratchet strap around the tire, expand it to the beads
where did you guys get the sticker on the refrigerator

get a ratcheting tiedown and run it around the middle of the tire and crank it down. it will take air and seal the bead without all the fuss
@SXSBlog

I cut out about 8 mins of video of us doing that. that technique works well with a regular tire but the carcass on a skat trak is so thin it ends up just folding the tire.
Try putting a cargo strap around it and squeeze it to get the bead up to the rim?
@SXSBlog
7 жыл бұрын
Hey Danny, we tried that but with the super thin sidewalls of the paddles it actually just ended up folding and putting a ripple on the bead. This technique works great with regular tires though!!

Somehow things replies are getting out of order - So the Strap didn't work because tire is too flexy. The next thing was Starter Fluid - Spray it in and throw a match at it (lighted) and it will explode into shape. Don't spray too much, just a big quick shot, then light it off and the tire will pop into place. (make sure you went to bathroom before doing this trick). MUST be done outside. This works great in the field when you pop a tire off. It is the only way to get them back on - especially big tough ones (trucks) or too flexy ones (like yours). There are numerous vids of this on KZread. Now everthing is in order.

On last reply - neglected to add that a strap around middle will keep it in shape as sidewalls expand out. Now there is a vid that is worth seeing.

Use ratchet strap round tire too aid inflation ....
@SXSBlog
7 жыл бұрын
Oh we did...unfortunately that doesn't work all that well with super soft-side tires, it just causes them to wrinkle.
Time to break out the old hair spray and lighter to seat the tire.
rachet straps around the tires for air
12 inch wide tires that were sitting and became stiff that s a pain to in mount
TAKE VALVE CORE OUT WORM TO AIR UP
Get an inflatable tire strap...
Either
id rather use dishwater to lube tires (im cheap)
Ratchet strap makes for 1 man job.. around tire
Your not gonna mount no outlaws that way lol.
Rachet strap dudes, ratchet strap
I want Doug to stop tucking in his shirt...it's causing me some distress after 10 beers...
