How to modify the strobe light on a Technics SL MK2

Ғылым және технология

This video will show you how to modify the strobe light on a Technics SL mk2 turntable.
The red LED's in the strobe light are a bit boring so some, so with this short (short, yeah right) tutorial, i will show you all you need to know about doing this mod.
Waning, the acronym "LED" is used massively (every other word) in this video.
WANING: always unplug your turntable from the mains before doing any servicing or repair inside the turntable.
Disclaimer.
this in not a standard service procedure, i cannot hold any responsibility for your equipment.

Seriously man. Your videos have absolutely saved me. I am a complete rookie on everything from motherboards, vinylplayers, LEDs, electronics of all sorts and just about everything else with the T1200, But i have now succesfully adjusted my tonearm that was stuck. Fixed the stopping speed on my platter. Adjusted everything with the tonearm and i just find myself watching more of your vids just for fun. Just wanted to say thanks for all your hard work!

Mate, just seen your channel pop up. I used your videos at least 6 years ago to restore a set of totally wreaked 1210's I bought on eBay. Couldn't have done it without your detailed instructions + advice. They are still in my setup, brightly coloured and all the replaced RCA's, tonearms etc all still sounding great. Just thought I'd say thanks. Without your videos I would have been the proud owner of two very large, heavy, technics shaped paperweights. Thanks man.

Good guide. The only suggestion I would make is some heat shrink on the in-line resistor connections instead of insulating tape.

One of the best instructional videos I have ever seen on KZread for anything. Purchased my first Technics 1200 MK2 on ebay and had to setup and fix the popup light, rca cable, and strobe (it was in real disrepair). These videos made the whole process so much easier and I learned a bit more about electronics. Thanks!

Excellent video! I found your work precise, clear and I was highly entertained while being well informed. I've done some LED things with vintage tape recorders so I know how important those voltage and current values are (cooked plenty of LEDs in my time), and I appreciate your clear explanation. Great video, thanks for making it!

I have just recently changed all the lights on my 1200's to LED's using a kit from eBay. The kit comes with written and picture instructions which to be honest are as clear as mud! But thanks to you and your videos guiding me along, this novice electrician/ solderer has completed what he set out to do! So thank you very much your explanations and videos have been a great help. :)

Lee Bell , I too bought a kit from eBay but it only came with one resistor per turntable, the one for the pop-up light. Did you use a resistor for strobe light also or did not need it? My kit is blue leds. I don't know if I must get another resistor for rest of LEDs.

I would like to add two life savers for the tool kit, cheap wire strippers for the vaguely competent especially when it comes to stanley blades and to keep your camera handy and take a pic of anything your not sure of or involves a few routines in its repair, that way you don't loose momentum and can refer to the pic rather than having to leave your work station and refer back to a vid and all that entails, especially when there are different length screws involved. Im giving my decks their first big service in 20 years next week all leds and rca leads too and a set up am looking forward to it your vids are concise and to the point indeed and easy to follow and I am sure will make for a stress free service am happy that I have come across them...
