I'm a valet and a dude with a big turbo srt4 came in and I was one of the only dudes who can drive stick. Hopped in stalled it instantly bc I've never driven a race clutch 😭. I had to let him take it bc he had an issue with his key where I couldn't get it out and only he could do it. But his car was definitely pushing power, the turbo was super loud and he had oil pressure boost and afr gauges going down the a pillar

The original burble machine and the car that won my heart as a severely unsupervised 90's kid hanging out with his older brothers in the car scene. Vivid memory of a Orange Blast with a DP cutout throwing fire out the bottom when I was maybe 12. Stomping everything on the streets.... from a domestic Dodge Neon? JDM scene was high on the rise with F&F, NFS, all the tuner mags. Life was so amazingly innocent and good. Ive owned 2 and am currently finishing up my current SRT4. 2004 Mopar Stage 3 Kit. 89K Miles and it is an absolute stunning example of an OEM+ NSRT4 and arguably the cleanest in the PNW. Thank you Alex for your content and love for this platform.

Dude that’s awesome! What color is your current SRT? Also I’m curious because I have one myself. Did you buy a used stage 3 kit from someone or did your car come with it? I’ve been trying to find a complete stage 3 kit or piece one together from the internet but it’s been a trival process so far.

I still own/daily my 03 since new. Almost 21 years! 😅

Alex I still have my 03 Red Neon SRT-4 with a Mopar BOV and stage 3 Turbo toys still on the stock exhaust cause it is the loudest ive heard yet and some Eibach springs im making around 400 hp ! I have had it for about 15 years now so its definitely gonna stick around a lil longer I hope !

@@Weber1987 I believe that you can still find the mopar bov plate that goes behind the stock bov and releases the pressure faster and it sounds awesome and look into the mopar turbo toys stage 1 or 2 that mopar made and can be installed and still remain with a factory warranty because they are genuine mopar parts !

I remember my SRT4. Had a blast with it. So many Smiles Per Hour. I’ve upgraded since to the SRT8 but I still miss that old car.

I got Enkei PKR’s on my SRT4. Super early 2000’s look and I love it. Makes it look like it’s time

i can testify... i was 19-20 back in 2004 and everyone wanted one of these things.... they were the bane of my existnce...my foxbody coul handle most import/tuner cars but these srt4s with a tune would give me a run every damn time

Bought mine in 05. Has 76k original miles. Things amazing. Mfactory input shaft with straight cut 1st and 2nd gears, built head and s206 turbo. Love it. Where are you at Nacho

Had on 05 that was sitting on a lot because of the color, sunburst orange metallic, that thing just with a stage 2 JET performance chip a Mopar blow-off valve and 3" undercarriage dump exhaust, was a problem for Corvette and I really wanted to put a DSM suspension and adapter plate to make it all wheel drive...I want it back.

@@ramonbriones4487 I own a 2003 Evo, 1995 M3, and a 2008 Civic Si. I can't remember the last time I saw an Evo 8 or 9, as well as an E36 M3 on the road. Is that because they aren't desirable? 😄 They aged out, desirable or not. It happens to every single car produced.

Mopar stg 3 kit and done. In stock form they struggled to pull ahead of my svt/zx3 swapped focus. I had a 02 zx3 auto that I swapped in a svt engine and trans in 05-06. As long as I caught the srt in a low boost start I could just walk away . More times than not the srt was too busy making burble pop noises and I don't feel their turbos from factory spooled well even for the time it was quite laggy . My svt was n/a with 10.5:1 comp and a e85 tune . I gutted the body and didn't use the svt brakes or seats and that gave me a 300 lb weight savings over a stock svt focus. 16 inch wheels gave better performance along with a better sidewall on the tire. The srts were good but a mildly built Honda was better.

@@rooh5825 you'd like to think. From stock they were laggy and most people didn't quite understand how boost works. I used that to my advantage. Yes my engine swapped and trans swapped zx3 was about 300+ lbs lighter than a svt and I ran 16 inch wheels with 225/45's for a little better advantage. That car still went from 35-130 faster than some street bikes.

@@robsorgdrager8477 1) The SRT4 used a small TD04LR-15Gk for a quick spool, there was very little lag. 2) A car that at most would be 250 lbs less than the SRT4 is NOT going to make up for having roughly 60 less horsepower, and 100 less torque. The SRT4 when introduced was faster than the Mustang GT, S2000, 350Z, WRX, the list goes on and on. You aren't even in the same zip code driving a naturally aspirated SVT anything. And "faster than some street bikes" LOL come on man, get off the crack.

@@rooh5825 maybe it was the way I drove it. I know on the hwy I would pull on srt8's, c4 Corvette, sn95 mustang was a joke. From a dig that focus was worthless but for what ever reason I could simply drive away from cobalt SS super and turbo, srt4s. The only stock cars I ever had issues keeping up with were the Acura type s and certain Nissan Maxima. I mean you have the same response as most people did😂🤣 . One guy on a 600 gsx wanted to see my nitrous set up. I put the car on a dyno at Hitec here in Minnesota and it put advertised numbers to the wheels. 170 HP and strangely 168 lbft. The only mods it had besides the swaps and none of the heavy brakes from the " blue " donor car was a hand made air intake and the manifold rocker from C.F.M. I think the six speed made that car fast. At 50 mph I'd down shift from 6th to 3rd and wring it out to 7200 rpm and by then I'm doing 125 mph. That car would top out at 147 mph and then slow down when shifted into 6th. Had a few of my fellow Ford technician refer to it as " the freak " because no one could figure out why it was so quick, including myself. Oh the car was a 02 and it never got the first software update which kinda nerfed the cam advance because too many people thought it ran rough. I'm pretty sure the dyno guy had a boosted Mazdaspeed 6 that I simply just drove away from as well one night.

Neons in general are under rated. I have 2001 dodge neon r/t dodge motorsports edition. Only 87 of them were made.

I definitely go in line even if my group number hasn’t been most times they let me on

Love my srt4. They get a lot of hate but there is something very special about it when you’re driving one. Best sounding 4cyl turbo imo. So many turbo noises it’s epic fun. Interior is ass but the “viper” seats are soooo good.

@cjbeuro2145 I own an Evo 8. Essentially the same thing. Its all drivetrain, seats, steering wheel, brakes, and wheels. Neon and Lancers are borh economy cars.

I hear what you're saying but there's really no need to swap it. The original 2.2L engines are very capable.

My E85 neon srt-4 is my daily driver, travels with me out of the city, trips, daily work, meets, and I race the absolutely piss out of it. 202k og miles on engine.

Just be aware most people just dog these cars and don’t actually look after them so I recommend heavy maintenance first and taking someone with who knows a thing or two about them possibly otherwise you’re gonna have someone else’s nightmare and hate the experience and also just an FYI these cars are very maintenance heavy in general

Just picked up a supercharged one a few months back as a daily I love it!

Man I miss my old 2005 SRT-4. Made power really easy, weighed basically nothing, and I beat the hell out of that thing without any hiccups.

Slower than the Neon though.

When you buy one don't forget to address all the factory boost leaks. You will be surprised at how much more the car wakes up for the cost of hoses and zip ties.
