At least a hotspot is guaranteed to be available for use right? The point is he didn't use the wifi network (& as mentioned, no internet connection whatsoever at the end), something not everyone has. That much was given the moment he spoke about the Bravia smart TV & Miracast. Like, you definitely need bluetooth to send a file to another phone, but its not something you gotta go get part & parcel of a separate network device to be a mediator between either device. Its inbuilt, its convenient & an alternative to an extent for file sharing. I was wondering why the dude's been so quaky about people not getting his point & questioning him. Now I see why.

What is terrible is how many dummies in here thinking wifi and hotspot are the same. Wifi is from a main internet company hotspot is from your phone. Basically if you didnt pay your bill oe just dont have internet at home, you can hotspot your tv and share your phone viewings . I understand you dude . Good job.

I didn't even watch the whole video but read a couple comments. Just wanted to say that for a galaxy s10 paired with a roku you can screen share all day without wifi. You don't have to create a fake network or Hotspot that both devices are connected to at the same time either. I haven't tried to screen share probably in a couple years but due to ISP issues I tried it a couple days ago first trying to connect both devices to the same wifi without internet so they would register but ended up with both my TV and phones wifi turned off. Also the last time I tried this I wasn't able to get full screen aspect ratio on my TV but this time I was able to change the settings and it works flawlessly. It even eliminates the home icon bars at the very bottom which used to always get in my nerves. If this is old information sorry for wasting your time but I thought I would mention it because it is a game changer for me. I live full time in my RV due to work and as you can imagine not every RV park has the best wifi. Half the time it fucks with me and ends up being less than 1mbps. Now I just need to figure out a good company to go with so I can get back into gaming on my #PCMASTERRACE. Anyways, this has nothing to do with anything so I will leave it at that. 👍

He was using wifi direct ppl. Which doesn't use internet. It's for the soul purpose of connecting to another device without the need of wifi connection. Basically if you want to share pics, videos or files with another device but dont have internet this is an alternative. And yes it's like bluetooth, but much faster.

I know it can be done, I used to do it at work in the break room. There was no wifi in the building. Just upgraded phones and the app I used didn't copy over and now I can't find that app anywhere

In short, u still *need* a smart TV that has this option to directly connect to other devices via a WiFi signal.

Worked for me! No wifi or cable

Mirracast utilizes the peer-to-peer technology, WiFi Direct very similar to Bluetooth. It doesn’t need a working WiFi connection. It is NOT a hotspot. Wifi Direct works in the same manner as Bluetooth however with several differences. WiFi Direct is much faster than Bluetooth and allows simultaneous connections between multiple devices. This gives you the ability to watch HD films and game with others; not something Bluetooth could handle due to its slow speeds. It’s a security risk if you’re using it for file transfers but that can be resolved by using a stronger encryption.

Before you bash this guy, i encourage you to read articles about WIFI vs WIFI DIRECT. Wi-Fi Direct devices connect directly to each other rather than through a wireless router. Think of it as bluetooth on steroids. Some new 4k tv's especially released in late 2018 to 2019 have this. TESTED IT on a samsung curved tv RU7300 series and worked like a charm. IF you're in an appliance center, a friendly salesperson can assist you with the demonstration

Samsungs use Miracast which he actually goes over and it has nothing to do with the hotspot. Turn on screen mirroring on your TV your Samsung has a button that says screen mirroring.

A question ... whe have a quest house with 11 rooms and someone is connecting a device called prosperity tv with various requests everyone is silent and we could also not find thus device. What happens is that this connection is stopping other tenants from using the house wifi as they can not connect to the wifi when this device is connected. Is their any way to block thus device on the rooter itself?

So, the phone must have miracast or some kind of screen casting function. Not just Wi-Fi Direct like your other video says.
