Instruction For Manually Change The Boot Device in BIOS
*************************************************************
If you choose to manually change the boot device in the computer BIOS, follow these two steps:
Step 1: Restart the computer and press the designated key (usually F2, F1, F8, F10, F11, F12, or Del) when prompted to enter the BIOS.
Step 2: Navigate to the 'Advanced Settings' or 'Boot Priority List' section and locate the current boot disk in the priority list. Change the order so that the new disk is set as the priority #1. Remember to save the settings before exiting the BIOS.

I rarely post comments, but wanted to thank you for this. I repeatedly tried using a different free software that is widely recommended, but it would never let me boot from the migrated NVME drive because of an error message. Finally, I tried Disk Genius and it worked the first time! I especially liked that it took me to the BIOS screen after the migration, so that I could change the boot order. BTW, I used this software on a Windows 11 desktop. Thanks again.

hi i just want to thank you for the video! for anyone wanting to clone a 1tb hdd to a smaller size m.2 ssd this is the only program that worked for me (i tried them all) luckily i had my hdd split into 3 partitions c,d,e and c was 340gb my destination drive was a 500gb ssd i followed the video exactly and then it said in red warning this disc is not a basic disk and the content on the destination might be deleted etc it's safe to click continue and all your data is safe my source hdd still has all my data on it i was unable to use other programs because they said the cluster sizes of the drives are different so i cannot proceed (they cannot convert the clusters while cloning) and this seems to be the only program that works no matter what !

A note, when initializing or converting a disk to GPT, the MSR is created as the first partition, which is usually 16MB. The basic primary data partition is the second. If you are going to install Windows on the disk, this program allows you to first create the 100MB EFI and then the MSR, and then create or modify the primary system partition. The Recovery partition is necessary, and you can do it with Diskpart if you cannot do it with DriverGenius. Likewise with Diskpart you can do it all, convert, delete MSR, create EFI, create MSR, create primary (C:), create WinRE, create a second primary partition for data (D:). If WinRE is after D: and runs out of space in an update, a new recovery partition will be created just after C:, leaving the previous WinRE unused. If you are going to leave WinRE as the last partition, it is better to give it 1.5Gb instead of 500. The channel is interesting, I hope for more videos. Greetings.

Yes, it just copy everything from disk to disk. Everything on the old disk is still on the old disk (until you delete everything on it). The new disk is the exact copy of the old disk. What you need to do next is accessing the computer bios to change the boot priority in the bios to boot the computer up with the new disk.

So "System Migration" is only for copying the system files and nothing else? At least, this is what I understood when I asked chatgpt about it. EDIT: Nvm, my bootable DiskGenius didn't do the autodetect for system migration. I have to select that independent of the disk clone option.

Hey WindowsTips101, thanks for the helpful video. Unfortunately, I've run into a snag. I have followed the video until 3:24, when I choose my new NVMe as the target disk. While my NVMe is new, I have been using it for gaming and it has about 1TB of data on it already. When I choose the NVMe as the target disk, I am prompted with a warning message that reads: "Warning: All files and partitions on target disk will be overwritten! Are you sure you want to migrate system to '[the new NVMe drive name]'?" I am worried that, if I select my new NVMe drive, as per the step at 3:24 of the video, and proceed past the above warning, I will lose all my game data on the NVMe drive! What should I do?

Do not proceed. Follow two steps. First, you need to backup your Windows and data to an external hard drive. This is to make sure if something wrong with the cloning, your data is intact. Second, investigate what kind of disk the target disk ? why the target disk is not a basic disk? Is it the dynamic disk? by getting the info from its property. We only use the basic disk in most of the cases.

It's good to enter the BIOS manually because there might be changes to the disk partition management system when cloning to the new destination boot disk. Going from MBR to GPT, or vice versa. In such cases, rebooting and going to BIOS manually can be beneficial to change from Legacy/CSM BIOS to UEFI, in order for the boot drive to be usable.
