Now *THIS* is a tutorial!!.. Dude shows you how to do the Measurement, Then he even shows how to Record the damn measurement part.. If EVERY Tutorial was this concise, it be a hell of a lot easier to learn sh*t!!😊

Try This: After you let the measuring tape hang from the rim down to the floor for "plum", place a mark on the floor. At the mark on the floor, place a yard stick upright and measure the tape down to the 1 foot mark, 2 foot mark, top of the yard stick(3 feet) or any easy number for adding. This way you don't have to guess all the way to the floor with the measuring tape bent. So now you will have 2 measurements to add to get the exact number. Example say at the 2 foot mark on the yard stick is where you bring the tape down to. The math: 2 feet of yard stick plus the tape's measurement (from the rim down to the yard stick's 2 ft line) will get you an exact measurement. Don't have to guess at the lines on curvature of the bent tape.

Great idea to standardize this Jordan! Just a suggestion, sorry if this is a little pedantic. At 1:24 and 2:02, you can see that the measuring tape isn't perfectly vertical. It skews a couple inches in the direction of the baseline. This is because the center of mass of the measuring tape is a little bit off from where the tape actually comes out, so when you let it hang it will naturally come to rest at a slight angle. My suggestion would be after you let it hang, as you pull it down to the ground you can move it ~2 inches away from the baseline to make sure it's a little bit closer to vertical. Probably makes about a half inch of difference, so up to you how much this matters!

Hey! You’re right that it does change because of the mass of the tape, and I realized this.. but it’s maybe by like 1/30-1/100th or an inch I’d guess. Which to me isn’t enough to make this a non legitimate way to measure for now. Try it! You’ll see you can’t get a whole half inch of difference from that spot where it drops straight down. Appreciate you bringing that up tho! Would be cool to get a custom measuring tape that’s absolutely perfect for it.
