This was such a cool event to film (though, only for the first day!). I know very little about photography, so this was a good lesson. I was actually wondering what shutter speeds you guys were using when we were out there. Also very cool to see Ryan in this video!

Hope you got some cool clips! :) I'll add that for video I shot most of my B-Roll in 60fps at 1/125, but I'm tempted to try a bit faster next time around and see how it affects the footage!

Been looking for a video just like this, love your videos! Quick questions, would you recommend a Sony A7R or a Canon 5D? I'm leaning more towards Sony but I haven't gotten to try one, my friend has a 5D and I got use his for an event and loved it but he said he's gonna be going to the A7R.
awesome video! in these scenarios where you are shooting in broad daylight, i noticed some photos are 100 iso, and some are 320 iso but everyone has a ND filter, is there a reason not all photos are taken at 100 iso since its so sunny and bright?
underrated contentt
I have been shooting with the Eos t3 for a few years now, it was given to me from my sister, and I’ve learned how to use a camera and have had a blast shooting around with it, but now I’m ready to upgrade, I have about 3k saved up which camera and lens would be best choice? I’m just a hobbyist.
Normally I use shutter priority when car panning 1/25 and pan with subject tracking.
ı have sony a6400 and sigma 18-50 f/2.8 and eighter the lens or body doesnt have any ımage stabilition and ı just got them would it be hard for me to get stable images on low light slower shutter speed setulations ( sory for my english)
In wildlife photography aperature is often the least important setting You want your shutter speed fast enough to freeze the action
@AnthonyGugliotta

Great point! Animals can move pretty fast!
Please do this for both ISO and aperture to if you haven't yet
What about shutter in video?
Was this out in Picton? I use to play airsoft, and there was a 24hr event that took place out at an old abandoned army hospital that is near a helicopter field. I never got to go, but it would be awesome to see it here I'd that's where it was.

hi, i'm new to photography, my brother just lent me his camera. I'm still confused as to how I can get a picture that is not overexposed in daylight with a shutter speed of around 1 second and low iso? And are tamron lenses good? I read in some forums that they are not good enough. please let me know. thank you guys

Raise your aperture number
6:59 "so we just shot this helicopter" ☠️ Say that to anyone without context ☠️
Long time aviation and motorsports photographer. For a plane idling on the ramp like that 1/400 is way too fast. 1/60 and slower is needed for prop planes on the ground. Helicopters, no way I would even start any higher than 1/60.
5:16 Because You use a Canon. Buy a Lumix camera.
Hey I am the 10th person commenting!

1/125? That's nothing! Last weekend we shot helis on speeds ranging from 1/60 to 1/15, in order to close the main rotor of the helicopter. So yeah, 1/125 is nothing for us aviation photographers :p

That's awesome! I tired a few slower ones and felt like the blades weren't visible enough, that might have been because of the lighting though?

@@AnthonyGugliotta yup, I find this to be quite common. With harsh lighting conditions, for eg. straight sunlight they get lost pretty easily, especially if there are no clouds in the sky to provide some contrast. If you wanna make them more pronounced, playing around with dehaze is your best bet.
