How to master Lean Cleans!

Спорт

This week's Webisode Wednesday is the fifth in a series of tutorials, mostly centred around playboating, both in modern and oldschool kayaks.
Over the next few weeks, look out for splitwheels, tricky woos and loops! And if you have any suggestions of videos you'd like to see, feel free to let me know in the comments.

It would be sweet if you put these videos in order of 1st/easiest to last/hardest, good stuff man keep them coming

True true. I might have a little reshuffle of the playlist. To be honest though, what is hard for one person might be easier for another - it's quite hard to determine a precise order.

Really liking your way of teaching, just one thing though...after the first two videos I have got the info from the first part of the clip, I generally just scroll to 1:45 to start the lesson. I appreciate that anyone who hasn't seen any of your videos before would need the detail; however, you could refer them to another clip perhaps. BTW really like the feature where you show pre-requisite skills for a move and then refer to the appropriate clip...keep 'em coming!

Hi Angus. Thanks for the feedback. As you rightly say, the introductory info isn't so necessary later on, so I've stopped doing it. Thanks for the encouragement!

This may be a jump from lean cleans, but I'd love a flatwater Phonics Monkey tutorial. I just can't seem to rotate more than 180 degrees in my cross bow initiation

Hi Will. Definitely. I'm not really working in any fixed order - currently have about four tutorial edits on the go - so I can put together a Phonics tutorial! Though they are definitely one of the tricks I'm still experimenting with myself!

I can rotate the boat well with lean cleans, but can’t get vertical enough for clean cartwheels. Any suggestions? Thanks for the videos.

My pleasure. Glad you're enjoying them. Without seeing you paddle, I wouldn't want to offer too much advice, as what I'm saying might not be suited to you. But focusing in on that stern initiation is definitely a good way to transition to vertical. Explosively rotate the body in the direction of travel as you drive that stern edge down, then just allow the momentum to carry the bow through its arc, then go again. Driving the bow down requires a lot more core/leg control and power, hence it being difficult! Hope that helps. Feel free to reach out via the website or FB page if you want some more personal coaching.
